I was getting ready to order a 2026 Ranger when I did some research on what's coming in the 2027 Ranger line-up. Ford will be offering a hybrid engine choice (not for me) as well as a refresh of the exterior of the truck. One big thing for me is they will be changing over from Sync 4 to the Ford digital experience which is a google based system. This has been in the Explorer and Expedition for the last 2 years. It's prompting me to wait until the 2027 order banks open speculated to be in July or August.

I agree with Ron Quixote that it’s possible they may update the SYNC system and make a few minor tweaks around the edges, but I wouldn’t expect any major updates to the Ranger until its next generation, especially something as significant as a new powertrain configuration. They may even remove standard features which they've consistently done every year since 2024.

I think a North American hybrid Ranger is even more unlikely for 2027, given that it’s the same year Ford is expected to release its new midsize, fully electric pickup truck as part of their CE1 skunkworks project. With a comparably sized electric truck launching that same year, I’m not sure Ford would want to introduce a hybrid version of the Ranger to North America at the same time and risk cannibalizing sales of a newly launched product, particularly one they’ve been heavily promoting with significant fanfare.

I don’t think we’re going to see a hybrid Ranger in North America until around 2029, when they’re likely to launch the next generation. I also think that powertrain will be accompanied by a few other changes, such as moving the Ranger to a fully aluminum body, similar to the F-150, to help maximize the efficiency of the hybrid architecture.

You’ll probably also see Ford releasing hybrid versions of other legacy vehicles around that same time, such as a hybrid Mustang, which would likely slot in between the standard EcoBoost and the GT.

From what I was able to find there would be only minor tweaks to the exterior, the major thing was the change over from Sync to the google based Ford digital experience. I don't have any interest in the hybrid engine option. I will meet with my local dealer sometime in July to see what they know. I see you can now order at 2027 Explorer at this point. Having owned multiple models of the Explorer in the past (currently own a 2020 Platinum) I had ruled out buying a 2026 Explorer as they had dropped the 3.0 liter V6 from the 2026 Platinum Explorer. The 3.0 V6 is now back in the options for the 2027 Platinum Explorer.

I suspect all that is wrong and created by over imaginative AI.
If you're in the US or Canada 100% this.

The only (partially) announced updates is the forthcoming Tremor trim. No hybrid for North America at all at this point.

Where are you finding that? Because I don't see anything like that on Ford's site. The 2027 model Explorer isn't even mentioned yet.

Other than the announced Filson Bronco I can't find any 2027 models at all.

If you go on Long McArthur's web site, they are a Ford dealer, you can order at 2027 Explorer configured the way you want it.

There is going to be more federally-mandated monitor and report on driver devices in September 2027. Vehicles will monitor eye movement, behavior, breath analysis, and will use AI to refuse to start, if driver is impaired. Per the 2021 Infrastructure and Jobs Act. Wait until emergencies happen and you cannot get your vehicle to start because it decided you are impaired.

My 23 Colorado ZR2 had a Google based infotainment system. I was NOT impressed with it.

While the law is real, the implementation is NOT coming in September 2027. There is zero chance the auto manufactures have the tech ready. I wouldn't expect it until next decade (2030+) if the law doesn't get overturned before then.

since the nhtsa has not published the rules yet, I agree zero chance.

originally nhtsa was to publish the rules in 2024 and then give manufacturers 3 years to implement.

but nhtsa was granted an extension.

apparently the extension is about to run out. So maybe we see this in 2029 but I believe at this point there is some discussion if this is even possible to reliably implement
