2 weeks ago I took delivery of my RR. Love the truck so far. Before I took deliver the dealer installed the Procal mod. I then had the the front side windows tinted to match the back windows. They also ceramic tinted the front windshield. The dealer left the ProCal tool sectioned to the front windshield. The tint guy removed it the install the tint. A day later I plugged it back in (by the cat5 plug on the back) and put it back on the windshield. Since then it doesn’t seem to be working properly.
Im going back to the dealer tomorrow to check the installation and possibly reinstall. The mechanic registered the ProCal in his name with his password. I only found this out after reading installation instructions that he should have asked me to create a Ford Performance ID. I’ve now done that and he said he can change everything so it shows I am the registered owner. Is this correct?
I understand that plugging in or unplugging the ProCal while vehicle is running can cause problems. I was never told this, so I don’t know if this was the start of it all. Is this a true statement.
Also during my after the fact research I have read that ProCal does not recommend leaving the tool plugged in. The mechanic says that it is OK and not to worry about it. I admit it is nice seeing the gages that are shown on the tool while driving. Any advice on to leaving it plugged in or not. Without a splitter for the OBD the plug is occupied all the time.
Tomorrow I’m going over to the dealership and I’m going to watch what he does. I really don’t know what I’m looking at, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The dealer installed mine the same way, mounted to the window, but i didnt want it installed all the time and attracting the wrong kind of attention so i removed it and the wire and keep them in the house.

I have to get my dealer to change mune ti my name also. They set it up without asking me that stuff too.

Hopefully the dealership can ge tit working right again and then you will be good.

Thanks for the look. When the dealer installed it he used his name and password. My understanding is that if anything happens, you want to change anything from stock on your truck, etc…, without the user name and password the ProCal is useless. I can let you know tomorrow when I’m meeting with the mechanic. Thanks again for looking.

My dealer did the same thing. When I asked him about account he looked at me like I had horns. Service rep that I am referring to also say to go back to stock I just need to push a button (assuming click on)

Yes, to go back to stock, you plug it in and when the screen loads, it shows a menu and one is the tunes. That page shows the stock tune and the procal tune. You highlight the one you want and hit ok

superj, I believe what you say is very true. The problem is it only works if the installer backed up the stock setting on to the ProCal per the instructions. Instructions also say to have the vehicle owner create a Ford Performance account so the ProCal can be registered properly. If he goes back to the stock setting, without the registered name and password he cannot reinstall the ProCal tune. The Ford mechanics that installed mine registered to his name and password. From my understanding if anything happens to the tune and I don’t have the name and password then I need to buy a new ProCal or go back to that mechanic so he can reinstall the tune With his password. Why would a mechanic choose this short cut. I don’t know. But I want my ProCal registered in my name with my password. I will find out tomorrow. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m totally new to all this.

I went to ford today. Mechanic called Ford Performance and got a new voucher number. Problem is the new voucher number is still tied to the mechanics email not mine. I can’t register it to myself when I paid for the ProCal. Up front doesn’t sound like a big deal, but if you change certain parameters in ForScan you may need to change them in ProCal too. Such as tire size that differs from stock. The new size must be entered in both ForSan & ProCal. If that is not done the the 2 software programs will conflict and they can’t tell what happen. But it wouldn’t be good. If anything happens with the mechanic there is no way to program anything in ProCal unless the dealership has the email and password. Anyway they are still working on it, but they may have to give me a new ProCal if can’t change. I will say the mechanic has been great to work with and is being helpful.
Everybody is correct, you can easily flip between stock and performance. Make sure you follow the onscreen instructions. Ignition on and the motor not running. Very important. I may have more news tomorrow.

Update. The mechanic worked with ProCal trying to figure out how to put the ProCal into my name to no avail. They do not know why a new voucher number will not work. They are replacing the ProCal. The mechanic is coming to me to do the install. I hope Ford performance figures out how to change the owners name in the ProCal registration.
