Ambient lighting in Ranger Raptor

I’m not understanding the ambient lighting setting. I toggled on interior ambient lighting and turned it all the way up thinking that at night when my lights turn on the ambient lights would come on too. Nope!

I went back to the settings and ambient lighting was toggled off. Tried again and same results.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you in accessory mode when changing to ambient?

I believe it’s under general or vehicle. There’s only one place with the toggle.

It’s completely nonsense. Sometimes it stays active for days, sometimes it resets on the next morning. Keep trying. It happens with a few friends too!

I’ve had the same issue- Always turned it on and it goes off the next day.

Solution I found- prep all your settings (steering/exhaust/Suspension/auto start-stop off/ambient lights on… etc) then save under the “R” button.

I got mine to stay on.

That’s too bad as I really like the feature when it works.
Seems to me that ford has crammed 10 lb of tech into a 5 lb can.

I've noticed it too, but at this point I usually keep it off or the lowest setting as I'm not a fan of the amber color.

Tangent question, anyone know if the lights can be changed to the color changing lights that other Ford's have?

I couldn't find anything in FORSCAN but I haven't looked that deep. Would probably require hex digit value changes and not simple option selections. That's assuming these aren't single color LED's.

I inquired with F150Leds if their existing multi color LED ambient lighting kit might work, or if they are planning on bringing one to market. Support is checking with R&D for me. Fingers crossed.

Nope, no color changing. Apparently, they decided to save money here, too. I do have it on my Escape.

Funny, I wish I had seen this post yesterday. I had my door cards off for the umpteenth time and could have looked. I can do it again easily though. What eactly are you looking for? I think the strips are just popped into the front underneath, not through the back.

Mainly wanting to know how they are attached. If it's easy to change them out for multi-color, it might be something worth doing. I personally wouldn't mind a dark blue at night.
