I saw a rumor somewhere that the bronco tank fits the opposite side...
Yeah it's true the Bronco has the same rear suspension design as the ranger Raptor so they're a cut out and the rear of the tank area is identical or a mirror image of the opposite side Ranger Raptor fuel tank. The crossmember could be in a slightly different location other than that the four-door tank should fit perfectly and there's also a shorter tank which is in the two-door version of the Bronco which may be used as well. The biggest difficulty would be rerouting the exhaust and all of its components to clear the new fuel tank and it could be done easier with the shorter fuel tank out of the two-door.

Honestly these aftermarket tanks are actually too big. Even in my full sized truck I never felt slighted by 26g. (Granted I’m not towing much with this…that does change things somewhat) What is really needed is something in the 24-26 gallon range that is no lower than factory when installed.

Lot of people where this doesn't apply to or don't know, but when towing anything with some weight or a large front area the gas mileage tanks. To anyone long distance towing an 18G tank means you're constantly searching for the next gas station. I tow about 6 to 8 times a year long distance and I want an alternative to a full size truck. The 2.7 ticks all the boxes for me, except for the gas tank, which I'll have to live with cuz I'm not sure I can handle $2K to $4K for an extended tank.

What fuel economy do you get towing?
We stop about every 2 to 2.5 hours anyway for people and pet breaks

Do people not take breaks on road trips? 18.8 gals at 23mpg average is about 420 miles. That's a stop about every 6 hours.....that's not bad at all.
I have 3 daughters and a wife, we stopping ever 2 hours at a minimum anyway lol. No getting around it and I like stretching my legs and decompressing a bit if traffic is bad. If Im solo, Ill go 200-300 miles without stopping but every 4 hours seems appropriate for me.

Shoot, someone's gonna dual tank theor ranger raptor and put a tank switch in. My Dad's 1995 F150 had dual tanks. Was pricey as a 17 yo to fill them both up after a day at the beach but was nice never worrying about fuel for the whole trip!

You ever get this tank installed? I'm considering something like this. Fuel range is awful.
I have the tank installed now. Wasn’t an easy install on the ground, might be better on a lift.
Worst part was an equalization line that goes above crossmember, has to be installed with tank mostly in place. I dropped my spare tire and the driver side watts link and was barely able to get it at fingertip length from behind and above the rear axle.

Tank fit perfectly, all hardware was included and correct. Only thing i changed was mounting the evap canister with rivnuts and bolts vs the included tek screws. The manual mentions this option, and I don’t trust tek screws.
I also used epoxy lined heat shrink for the extended wiring, but the included heat shrink should be okay. Kit only included heat shrink for the individual wires, I used larger over the whole cable after shrinking each individual wire as well.

The instructions were complete and accurate, but kinda vague. Definitely requires thought, not just follow along blindly.i sat the removed tank and new tank next to each other and studied instructions until I understood what each component and modification did, to make sure i didn’t do anything wrong.

Also, the smallest vent line thats next to the filler hose hookup on factory is a different style clip than the other lines. I tried to pry the retaining clip up to remove, and broke it. I was able to fashion a retainer from a zip tie, but would rather not have broken it.

35 gallon capacity is great, I don’t feel like this truck is constantly running out of fuel anymore. 100% happy I did this mod, completely worth the money to me.

No check engine light, gauge works perfectly. My dte is not accurate yet. The 2023+ fords apparently use the pcm to control dte vs the ipc in older trucks. This is a known issue on f150 and super duty applications, and forscan has a fix for them in plain text pcm module.
I don’t even have a plain text pcm in forscan, will work on finding a solution.

The tank does hang lower than factory, and has no skid plate. It is made of 14ga steel, so will not puncture or bend easily, but I wouldn’t recommend rock crawling with it. I plan to have a 1/4ā€ aluminum skid plate fabricated for it, the simple contour should make this easy.
