Curious if anyone has been successful programming a 3rd key, and if so, where did you order the 3rd key from? I had two extra keys from my Gen2 after I sold it. I was able to reprogram one for my wife's 2024 Bronco Raptor and works fine. I reprogrammed the other for my RR and it will lock/unlock/remote start fine, but the truck will not sense the key inside to use for driving. I ordered another on ebay for the 2024 ranger and does the same thing.

I almost asked this question yesterday. I'm in the same position. I ordered a key fob from amazon and was able to program the key to lock/unlock and remote start but the truck is unable to sense the proximity sensor in the key fob to unlock by touching the door handle and will not sense to start the engine. I thought maybe it was the fact is was a key fob from amazon and ordered a OEM refurbished from eBay. After programing the OEM key fob it was the same result. I'm at a loss. I've searched YouTube and google with no luck for an answer.

I believe both key fobs and remote keyless entry keypads require the use of Ford's FDRS tool to fully program them. I think the days of being able to add chipped keys with ignition sequences is over.

I was originally quoted $90 to program my keypad, then down to $19 since that was the price on Ford Accessories where I bought it, and then down to free when they installed my new wheels (also from Ford Accessories).

If you didn't purchase the keys from Ford, you're probably at the mercy of your dealership or a shop with a FDRS.

The dealer has to program them. If you have messed around with things like the Flipper you can see a lot of the codes are super readable and its easy to hijack them. Because of that, and the fact companies like making money, the dealer needs to program it to the truck.

Is this true even for the trucks without push button start? I always get a third key to program my vehicles but haven’t done so for the Ranger yet.

It may be that they made a change specifically to the 2024 Ranger, but I think it would be odd because I was able to program a 3rd key just fine for my 2024 Bronco. The dealer has to program keys #1 and #2, and the keypads, but I've always been able to program a 3rd with having the first two keys. You can't program key #2 on your own. The Ranger also has the key shaped indentation at the bottom of the center console, and I was able to go through the steps to program it successfully (as indicated on the home screen), just does everything (lock/unlock/panic/remote start) but being sensed to start car inside truck.

Dealer told me you can only have two at one time. If they program a new one for you, one of your other two will drop. Security reasons he said.
I think it's so people with key insurance can't just claim they lost theirs so they can get a free extra one.

Haven't done it yet but Batteries Plus stores have advertised as having keys & fobs. There display shows lazer cut keys so assume they are able to provide keys/fobs for modern vehicles. If anyone has an answer to this please chime in.

Where did you purchase the 3rd key? Are you international? So you programmed this on a 2024 Raptor, or the 2023 Wildtrack?

You need to make sure you have the same FCC# or it will not start your truck everything else will work but won't start you need to look at the inside the case where the battery goes & follow the directions in the owner's manual, if you have the flip key you need to have the key cut a lot harder to get a 3rd flip key remote then a push button start remote. You can do up to 5 I think on the push button start; my edge did 4 without any problems & programed them all myself.

So, with all this being said, is it as easy to replicate the fob and steal this model year as it is with earlier models? I live in the Detroit area and bad guys are grabbing these off the Ford lots at an alarming rate.

So you have done this with your 2024 Ranger Raptor? Or is this based on your experience with the Edge?
