I'd like to install an on board ARB compressor on my non raptor ranger with (ideally) an aux switch and hose quick connect on the bed panel. Seems like the three common mounting points are (1) under bonnet, (2) behind rear seat and (3) behind the bed panel. Trying to get input on pros and cons of each location for those who have done it. Below are some of my thoughts, but I could be wrong. Where did you install yours and why?

Under bonnet - simpler to connect power, but requires a long run to the bed panel for the switch and hose. Don't need to run anything through the firewall (at least I don't think so). Would much prefer to relocate the switch and quick connect rather than have them under the hood.

Behind rear seat - have to run wires through the firewall. Takes up some behind seat storage. Wouldn't bother running the hose or switch to the bed if it were in this location.

Behind bed panel - Close to the bed panel for switch and quick connect attachment, but far from power. How have others run power to this location (assume you run it under the truck, but this seems pretty exposed)? do I need to run a filter relocation for this location?

Seems like the ARB harness is overly complicated for this install (includes wires for lockers). Is there a simpler wiring harness, did you make your own, or just modify the ARB harness?

I’ve used a mounting bracket from PirateCampCo - not sure if they ship to the US, but it was super simple to install under the bed:

https://piratecampco.com.au/product...-under-tub-mount?_pos=27&_fid=5437a5089&_ss=c

This made routing the air hose to the bed’s electrical panel very easy, only needed a 500mm hose to go from the compressor to the back of the bed panel.

As for power, if you have aux switches the wiring is super easy - there’s the AUX switch #4 wiring (which is designed to be used for compressor power control) already routed the rear - it’s located near the trailer hitch wiring loom. This is very easy to hook up to the ARB compressor power control plug on the compressor. As for power, all you need to do is run two power cables from the battery to the compressor (the rest of the wiring that comes with the compressor can be discarded). I made my own wiring and just spliced in the fuses that came with the ARB compressor (spice in close to the battery so the fuses are in the engine bay).

Routing the wiring from battery to the compressor is also very easy as there is a wiring loom that runs along the chassis rail, I just followed that and zipped tied the power cables to the chassis rail. There’s plenty of earth connections on the chassis rail near the rear of the truck so earth is a short run from to compressor to earth. There’s also access from the front wheel guard into the engine bay so getting the power from battery to the chassis rail is also easy - just follow pre-existing wiring looms near the battery

I wrapped the power cables in spiral wrap, with heat shrink and electrical tape at the ends to hold it all together. There’s also a spare positive terminal you can use on the battery. Just need a nut and washer

I don't have a Raptor, so no Aux switches. But the switch shouldn't be too hard, and it sounds like running power from the battery wasn't too bad either. Did you have to relocate the intake filter? Not concerned with water getting that high, but that location could be pretty exposed to dust and other elements.

Pretty sure this mount also works in that position, just a slightly different configuration (supports the bolts from the other side of the bed wall).

Sorry - miss read your post. I thought you had AUX switches. Just a FYI, AUX switches are available on non-Raptor Rangers, you just need the tech pack or something. Well worth it as the pre-wiring simplifies everything

That mount you posted will work, it’s just more complicated as you need to drill through the drop in bed liner (spray in bed-liner I think has the holes pre-drilled). Access is very hard to get to the compressor also.

Not concerned with water with the under tub mount as I don’t do too many deep water crossing, but relocating the air intakes is quite simple given how easily accessed the compressor is

If you need to mount a switch into the cab, it’s also not too hard as there’s grommets on the firewall that allow wiring to enter the cab from the engine bay
