Can anyone verify the operation of the hood vents on the Raptor? It appears there are no cutouts in the underhood insulation, so I'm assuming these are just for appearance and non-functional.

Ford says they are functional on both the hood and fender

I hope so. My wife's Explorer ST with this same engine package gets HOT under the hood. No vents anywhere though.

That's the hood scoop. I'm asking about the hood vents - the plastic pieces in the back part of the hood on either side.

Manual says they are functional, but I need someone to explain to me how they are functional. I don’t see how they can extract, no openings in hood insulation where the extractors are located 🤔 🤣

Yes they are functional
Coming back to this. From sitting behind my new RR for the past couple weeks, I dont see any openings in the vents over the hood. Is there something that needs to be removed or cut out?

I looked at a Raptor in a showroom a few days ago. The small holes in the rear of the hood provide the "functional" areas of the vents from the underside. Seems like there should be a much larger hole there, but then I'm also not sure how much air the vents themselves can actually move.

Functional seems dubious at best. The sound deadening mat blocks the hood vents but they will still expel heat via convection.

I'm planning on removing mine to paint sometime this week. Here is a video that shows how to remove them and what's under them.

I don't see any holes in the vent the part he never turned over in the video. I think it only has a small water drain and no meaningful amount of hot air can escape.

I was just eyeballing mine yesterday thinking about how to cut a hole under each of the vents to make them more functional. This truck produces an insane amount of heat from under the hood, so much so that I usually open my hood to let it cool after driving.
