For those mechanically inclined. Does the Auto Start Stop feature hurt the engine, friction wear or anything else with constant use? I imagine it might reduce battery life.

It can increase wear to the starter and the battery. Theoretically the engineers take that into account when designing those parts but yes you could be replacing the battery more often.

I have it on my fleet car with no way to turn it off 27k miles over five years though and I’ve never had to replace the battery. So maybe it’s gotten better

Can someone help me understand - ya'll keep confusing the issue.. The Auto Start stop feature ( which most of us don't like) Has that feature been completely removed - as the engine will run all the time?

My personal take is if I have a Manual off button to allow the engine to keep running then I'm fine with auto start stop -- There are situations where it's ok and situations like crawling in traffic that it will drive me crazy.

but what are people saying here the auto start stop feature is no longer on the new Rangers?
( I ordered an XLT)

Here’s another interesting find. I got into the Ford order tracker to check my own order and lo and behold, auto start stop removal is included. I really don’t know what to make of this since this is no longer in the B&P.

I wonder what else will be excluded if they are having trouble sourcing the parts for auto start/stop...

I wish that were true for the XLT as well - I just need a button to turn it off manually and I will be happy
With as much as we pay for these trucks, it should be a manual switch that you can leave turned off. But Im guessing they wouldn't be allowed to count that as 0.5 MPG less... which is a joke to me. They're midsize trucks. They don't get 7 miles a gallon but they don't get 30 mpg either. If someone is that concerned with MPG, I wouldn't buy a truck.

Be even better if we could use that big touch screen and set the option we want there.

I changed my preference from the Ranger Raptor to the F-150 Tremor. I want an off-road capable truck that can still haul and tow reasonable amounts. When Ford dropped the Ranger Tremor package for 2024 that pushed the needle even farther in the F-150's favor for me.
Anyway, on the 2023 F-150 Tremor B&P and on the window stickers of dealer stock trucks with the 402A High Equipment Group package not only is there a credit for removal of the Auto Start/Stop feature but there are also credits for a camera removal as part of the cab mounted third brake light assembly and for removal of the heated steering wheel. Not all trucks have the same discounts so I assume that is related to build dates and which chips were available on that particular truck's build date.

There is a button to turn it off, comes in the Lariat too. Located in center console just behind the shifter.

Essentially repeating what CACTUSGREYFX4 has already written, I think were okay on our XLT's. I just went to the B&P, I see no option changes regarding that feature. Although anything is possible, I can't imagine there not being a push button to deactivate the feature should you choose to do so.
