For those mechanically inclined. Does the Auto Start Stop feature hurt the engine, friction wear or anything else with constant use? I imagine it might reduce battery life.

It can increase wear to the starter and the battery. Theoretically the engineers take that into account when designing those parts but yes you could be replacing the battery more often. For those mechanically inclined. Correct, that is what I was told to. Chip shortage.Historically it's been due to chip shortage (or, at least, that's the reason given when they did it on other vehicles.
Are you in the US? I just ran through the B&P on a couple different Ranger trims, and never saw that..
This is wonderful news.It has been removed (the truck will keep running) for the Ranger Raptor only,
I wish that were true for the XLT as well - I just need a button to turn it off manually and I will be happyThis is wonderful news.
With as much as we pay for these trucks, it should be a manual switch that you can leave turned off. But Im guessing they wouldn't be allowed to count that as 0.5 MPG less... which is a joke to me. They're midsize trucks. They don't get 7 miles a gallon but they don't get 30 mpg either. If someone is that concerned with MPG, I wouldn't buy a truck.I wish that were true for the XLT as well - I just need a button to turn it off manually and I will be happy
There is a button to turn it off, comes in the Lariat too. Located in center console just behind the shifter.I wish that were true for the XLT as well - I just need a button to turn it off manually and I will be happy

Essentially repeating what CACTUSGREYFX4 has already written, I think were okay on our XLT's. I just went to the B&P, I see no option changes regarding that feature. Although anything is possible, I can't imagine there not being a push button to deactivate the feature should you choose to do so.There is a button to turn it off, comes in the Lariat too.
