So I had the pillar wire short recall done and that involves reprogramming the BCM

low and behold a few days later I try my keyless entry pad and nothing. Red light flashes but doors don’t open. Doors don’t lock.

I call my service adviser and she says the BCM shouldn’t be the issue maybe the battery. A little goggle search and I find yeah, likely it is the BCM.

if they want to give me a new battery under warranty, fine,

Anyone else have this issue?

And just be forewarned you might want to check the functioning of your keyless pad before snd after the BCM firmware update.
Yep. They did this recall on my truck on Monday and today was the first time I tried to use the keypad and it does just what yours are doing, nothing except the little red light flashes.

So they're coming back out here on Tuesday to see what the problem is. My truck has a really snazzy glue on keypad lol. It's not the really nice lighted one that My 12-year-old F-150 had. Seems like Ford is kind of going backwards with this little feature.

I have had this truck for 8 months and I feel like I'm being pecked to death by a duck. Every week there's a problem or recall or something that irritates me.

I keep bringing up my 2014 f150 that I drove without issue for 12 years and then sold it to buy this little drama queen. I dread the day when the warranties run out in 3 years.

Ah, yes. I figured for 5 numbers, instead of 6. So, 5^6, not 5^5.

EDIT:

My code is only 5 digits long, so I was right, unless other have 6 digits codes.
mine has 5 you were right.

all the ranger6g use a wireless keypad that can be mounted anywhere. I believe in 24 it could be ordered from the factory. 25 was dealer installed. The default is the drivers door but you could ask for pillar or in my gas door.

for some reason the keypad is different for 25+

a search on BCM update and keypad stops working pulls up some maverick customers experiencing this issue.

I assume it is either keypad data erased or disabled during the update.

i had it fixed by the dealer this morning so I’m back in business. I asked the service manager what they did and she said, in nice bit of honesty, “I don’t know, I just asked them to fix it. Probably just reprogrammed.”

I had made a point of giving her the card with the serial number and factory code.

Normally I would wait to let some one else figure out these decals, but my 10k inspection was due and I have four recalls stacked up so I threw the dice.

‘so a heads up for those with keypads to double check this after the pillar wiring recall
Are you able to share what dealership did you or fix on the keypad? Mine's been at the dealership all day today and they can't figure out how to reprogram it.

If you can give me that information I can have them call your Ford dealer. Maybe they can share the secret sauce.

They had the truck all day yesterday and around 4pm told me they had to replace the keypad but had to get approval from Ford for a "recall damage" replacement. It was so late in the day I agreed to them keeping it overnight. When I called back this morning it was the same thing...waiting for Ford to approve the replacement. I reminded them that I have a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty so if it has to be replaced they are obligated to replace it and they should do that and deal with Ford without holding my truck. The dealership agreed and should have the truck ready to go by noon.

Also, once the battery dies on this thing guess what? It's not user replaceable because the thing is sealed. I'm sure someone with find a way to hack it by then. I'm not paying $400 for a new cheapo plastic stick-on keypad. One of Ford's worst ideas ever. I also asked them to install the new one inside the fuel door..so I don't have to look at it. lol

My friend had one on her F150 for 15 years on original battery so hopefully the newer ones last that long.

My 2014 F-150 had a lighted keypad built into the door. 12 years and zero issues.

So I got my truck back with the new keypad on it and the diagnosis was that the ECM update after the a pillar wiring inspection wiped the keypad serial number from the system, causing it to be disabled. They were not able to reprogram it in so they had to replace the keypad.

$400?
It's about $110 here, unless they are charging $300 for programing.
