I had one bolt strip out because I did not have a T40+ bit and could not find one locally. I replaced all the bolts with these found on E-bay. Replacing all with Fords earlier T40 versions would cost twice as much.

My bed was OEM spray lined, so I cut around the head with a knife and pulled the liner off the bolt head with a pliers. It pulled all the liner out of the Torx Plus head on the bolt. I then used a Torx plug bit (I think a 45) with an 18" breaker bar. I went slowly and the came out fine.

Heat... I ripped the bed liner (because ford is dumb and sprayed over everything) off the heads of the bolts, then heated each one with a zippo lighter torch for about 10 seconds each. Just make sure you have Torx PLUS bits and go slow. I did still break one off and had to drill it out but the rest came out fairly okay.

I've had mine for 53 years. I bought it for the exact same purpose. Mine was a Honda S65.
You guys are old—I’ve only had mine for 47 years—for a Honda SL100.

Has anyone tried an inductive nut heater? Usually, you would put the circular element over/ around the nut, push the button for about 30 seconds, and presto— the nut is red hot and easy to remove. I was thinking maybe, if the heating element was placed over the Head of the bolt for a few seconds, it might soften the loctite. My truck has factory Bedliner and I really don’t want to scratch the crap out of it cutting off bolt heads or drilling out broken bolts—I don’t want to melt it with heat either. Aren’t our beds made out of aluminum? Maybe that is why Ford put on so much loctite—to stop the natural galvanic corrosion between steel bolts and the truck’s aluminum bed. Inductive bolt heater tool looks like this:

I'm having the exact same issues with my 2024 trying to install a built right molle panel. What is the thread pattern for these 8x25mmx?

Thanks

I agree. I wish I had one 40 years ago. They work great for removing the Tie-down bolts and any rusted or seized fastener.
