Nectar of the (beer) Gods.…delicious! Just poured one tonight.
Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island in Chicago, I’ve been drinking it for about ten years. Bourbon barrel aged, this years version is 14.1% ABV, released every year on Black Friday, and when it’s gone it’s gone…until next Black Friday.

As to proper glassware, this glass is superb, I have six of them.

BTW…Great thread!

Wow! That looks amazing! Both pic/presentation and the beer. I’m not a huge stout guy, but this sounds like one to try.

It is amazing, I don’t know if you can get it in Canada, but if you can get your hands on one it’ll change your life…lol.
I wasn’t a stout drinker when this was suggested as a must try by a good friend of mine, I was a fan of Alaskan Amber, and Ambers in general….this beer changed things.

It changed my perspective, it’s complex, like a fine wine. Using the right glass is important, such as the one I use, then there’s the taste, some of the barrel comes through, plus notes of vanilla, toffee, chocolate, cherry, caramel, and some raisin. Each year is slightly different due to the bourbon barrels used for aging (usually around 16 months), they vary each year.

I usually buy a couple cases (12 bottles each) if I can. This year was a case plus eight bottles, usually around $11-$14 each. This is the base beer of the collection, available every year, there are also variants, 2024 offered five variants Including a BCS Vanilla Rye Stout, and BCS Macaroon Stout. They were offered here, I purchased several of each at $24. Expensive, and worth it!

BCS is not a beer that you knock back two or three in a night, especially at 14.1%, it’s a single beer on a nice evening to drink slowly, and savor, contemplate the good things in life.

Bourbon allowed?

The coy hill was a letdown despite all the hype.

I’ve come up with an old Reddit looking for it & an entry in Ontario, but nothing out here. I found a local place does something similar so I could probably get a flavor for it without actually finding the exact one. I’m always surprised at beers that come up with double digit ABV, I have one sitting in my fridge forever now I might have to crack open just for this thread. My problem is I’m so used to beers you can knock back all night long that when you encounter one closer to wine it’s pretty wild.

Allowed? It’s welcomed! Along with really any different drinks here one might choose. I rather enjoy JD myself, even if the only thing I can really do with it is a jack & coke. Sux though, this one was a letdown huh?

Borrowed from another forum as it’s a great idea for off topic discussion.

Looking forward to seeing what beers & other libations everyone is enjoying!
I’m a beer guy mostly, but do some alright mixed drinks & enjoy wine as well.

Tonight’s selection is one of my old favorites. Not so much that the beer is by itself better than other raspberry ale options in cans nowadays, but that the brewery itself is an excellent pub to hang out at & eat. They stared doing this back when nobody had heard of micro breweries. It’s been in our community mall for about as long as I can remember & is always a happening place especially on a Friday night. I can’t go & not run into someone I know, despite being in such a large city. Ordering it in pub will net you one of your daily servings of fruits with raspberries floating on top. I didn’t recreate that at home.

Yes, I’m one of those. After spending three and a half decades and forty pounds heavier chasing the best craft beers available I’ve slowed my roll. I do miss my arrogant bastard ale but now I’m enjoying spending time with grandkids and watching them grow up.
I still indulge in a well poured Guinness when wife is not looking.

Thanks for the suggestion on a light low carb beer! The Corona option looks like one I have to try. I think the one I go to all the time cuts carbs & calories by mixing it 1/2 & 1/2 with water. It’s still an acceptable substitute though to make sure I don’t regain the 40lb my 40s threw at me after losing them.

Apparently there’s a football game on tomorrow or something…. So while I can’t find any KC branded beer here, our city’s one top league team colors are similar/same, so had to buy their beer in honor to enjoy tomorrow. However sessionable apparently means it’s easy to pound 4 tall boys in an afternoon & evening. So will search out something else for tomorrow.

One of my favorite beers is shiner black lager. I enjoy all dark beers but this one is a favorite because the brewery, in shiner texas, used to host a 100 mile bike ride that started in austin texas and ended at the brewery front lawn where all riders got bbq and beer for completing the ride, as well as a decent medal with the year on it.

So i have done this ride a bunch of years till covid killed it but i still enjoy touring the brewery and doing some of their front lawn music weekends. They are very family friendly and gave great bbq in their in brewery restaurant.
