Well, I noticed this the other day. Super annoying.
Thoughts on repair? Ford wasn't 600 for the camera alone. I'll do it, but if anyone has thoughts on a cheaper repair option I'm all ears.

is the camera affected or just the glass? You could break all the glass out and cover with some PPF..if you wanted a quick fix

If the camera works and you can remove the shattered pieces you could get a small glass or acrylic circle off Amazon and use a dab of epoxy on the outside. Then get a black trim ring made from a 3d printer the correct diameter and epoxy it around the glass. There are online 3d printing services that r cheap. You could even get one made that was recessed on the backside so the glass sat in the trim ring.

Looks like a DIY repair provided the camera lens is good.

Wonder if that was a one in a million rock shot?

either that or vandalism. Envy is a powerful force but still it would seem shocking to me to do something like this.

The camera doesn't turn on from teh touchscreen. Don't know if that in and of itself means the camera doesn't work. Thoughts?

Yeah...that's worse indeed. If the truck is new probably good to get the OEM camera and be done with it. As @boraxman said, one in a million. Probably will never happen again..

Maybe you could find one at an auto recycler?

If you like to debug things. I wonder if the broken glass is causing issues with it. The glass is broken already. I'd continue to break it all out, so the lens has no obstruction. If it has an auto-focus feature maybe that's causing issue. Happened to me on a smartphone but once i cleaned out the broken bits the camera still worked and focused.

Does your truck have the side cameras on the mirrors? Not sure if they are the same camera, but you might be able to pull the front or side camera and swap it to the rear for a while. I’d much rather have the rear camera working over the side or rear cameras. Just a thought.

One warning on the fix. REMEMBER glueing the new lens WITH THE CAMERA CHIP REMOVED AND AWAY OF THE GLUE SOLVENT FUMES if possible. Certain glues have solvents that might haze the actual camera lens.
So I recommend try to separate the camera shell of the actual camera, it might need more dissasembly. Just my .02
