I just placed my order on 8/25 (or 26…I’ve slept since then). I have a order number and that’s it

I don’t know what priority I’ve got, but I expect to be included in Job 2. I know we’ve got a certain time frame to make modifications to our orders but I’m not really sure about the cut off time for that.

That being said my build is currently the Lariat with the FX4, TTP, and ATP packages.

This is meant to be my dream ride as I have never owned a brand new vehicle. Ever. I’ve always given that privilege to the Mrs.

So my questions are just these, if my order doesn’t get any traction before Ford hopefully releases any other packages (Tremor, wild track, etc)I should be able to make those changes? Also open to all advice on winning the Mrs. over to the 2.7 engine. I lost the argument on the Raptor:frown:

Thanks in advance!

Since you’re not ordering a Raptor, you’re probably going to be included in Job 1. Job 1 isn’t even close to fully scheduled. So if you want to make those decisions, do it now. You can always cancel your order with your dealer and or change it up until the scheduled build week. Once it’s been picked for production, it’s too late. However you’re not obligated to buy it, you’ll just leave the dealership having to find a buyer for that configuration.

I don’t believe you’ll remain unscheduled until Job 2 so if you keep your order, it will probably be scheduled and maybe even ship before the 2.7 becomes available. There’s no guarantee there will be a Tremor during this model year, or at all for that matter.

Yeah. I’ve been running all over this forum and haven’t seen and solid information on it so I figured it must still be up in the air. As far as the 2.7 goes. I keep telling myself that it is purely a want and not a real need. One could argue that’s my wife talking but still. The heart wants what it wants. Even if it knows the good ole 2.3 is going to do just fine. Thanks for the info though. My thoughts on how the jobs worked were completely backwards. I just knew Raptors were going to be the priority due to demand and thus would be Job 1.

It depends what your needs are.
I want the 2.7 for the torque as I tow up to 5000 lbs. once a year for my wife.
Yes the 2.3 could do it but I feel more comfortable with the V6 not having to work as hard.

The 2.7 will not be available to order until late fall. I contacted the dealer I have ordered from before and will be contacted when I can order. Pricing for the V6 option has not been announced but if it is the same as the 2024 Bronco expect to add $2145. to the price of the Ranger you order.

The 2.7 will most likely not be built until job 2 that will not start until late January unless that gets pushed to a later date.

Bottom line if you want the 2.7 you have time. If the 2.3 works for you it can be ordered now.

You only live once.
As I said you have time to convince your wife if the 2.7 is what you want.
I like the Raptor also but its tow rating is too low for my needs and there are only so many available and getting one at MSRP is also tough.

Oh absolutely. I know it’s my dream ride and all but I just don’t know…the two engines are practically neck and neck In performance, right? I mean there’s not even that much difference in MPG (fact check me there lol). I can only imagine that baby is gonna add 2500 to the cost of the vehicle. I’ll sleep on it but as of now I think ole faithful is just gonna be it for me.

I am sure you will be satisfied with the 2.3.
That has been the only engine available in North American Rangers to this point.

But we Americans do like to have choices.

Just tune the 2.3 and it will out-perform the 2.7. Next time, tell her the Raptor is really built for shopping excursions, moving around nail salon parking lots etc…

I owned a 2000 & 2006 SCab with 6cyl. Both were 4.0L IIRC and underpowered with horrible MPG.

FYI, 2WD with tow package has highest rated payload and tow rating.

I know you are aware of.
There can be no comparison between a 4.0 IIRC and a 2.7 TT.
I do agree with the 4.0 power and MPG my wife had a few Explorers with that engine.

As you can not compare a 1986 2.3 turbo to a 2024 2.3 Turbo.
Todays engines are far advanced as I am sure you know.

Also I do not buy a pickup for the fuel economy.
It's a brick on wheels going down the road.

The Maverick is probably one of the better mpg pickups as you know since you own one.

You are correct but in this neck of the woods they are unicorns that no one wants.

So let me ask this. When I placed my order I tried my best to dot my i’s and cross my t’s. I said the 2.3L engine should be fine for MPG(maybe…) but I like to be ready for almost everything. FX4 package was a given. Tow packages were a given. What features do you all consider must haves?

If you got the FX4 it means you intend to use it off road so rear differential lock is an easy inclusion.
