Piece of white fabric that feels like underlayment or insulation between the cab and bed . I saw it when I was changing the bulbs in the cargo lights to LED’s

same on mine. i took it to the dealer and had it looked at, they said it was ‘normal’. dunno. seems out of place to me. i haven’t bothered with removing it.

i’m curious to know what it’s for. no explanation given at the dealer.

It seems like an afterthought, doesn’t look like it was planned or designed like that. I felt the bottom of it about an hour after the car wash and it felt damp. I have a friend who works as a dealership, gonna ask him to see if there’s any TSBs on it.

I thought in an earlier thread on this topic that was found to be a shipping cushion that dealers should remove during PDI. I checked for it when I picked up my truck, and it wasn’t present.

It's attached to the truck with plastic rivets and a few dealers have said it's normal for it to be there. I'd describe the material as more of an outdoor fabric, not really foam.

any words of widsom on thread subject? Any idea of its purpose or what your dealerships procedure is for the Ranger dealer prep?

Is it on both sides (driver side & passenger side), or just on one side (which side)?

Mine is only on the driver side; and I have a lot of road noise coming from the rear passenger side, so I wonder if this insulation (which is missing on my passenger side) would quiet down the road noise coming from that area (?). Maybe that's what it is for (?).

Edit to add:
Here's some more info regarding this insulation in this thread:

If it’s what I have in mine, you can pull the “plug” in the front of the bed and see it clearly.

I looked at several of our Rangers and none of our Rangers have anything between the cab and bed. We probably removed it during pre-delivery inspection.

I just checked my truck that I picked up 5 days ago and it has the white piece you are asking about on the driver side. It's out of reach but looks like that old thin foam that they use for packing or to make those giant airplanes out of lol I can't tell if it is attached or not would need to get a yardstick or something to see. Here's a picture of it that is clearer than the one on the OP.
