Thank you for the post. I'm due to do the first oil change on my 2024 Lariat 2.3L and was looking for information to reference. This will be helpful.

Question regarding the oil pan drain plug. I understand that the oil pan is made from aluminum, so attention is needed with the drain plug so as not to cross thread or over tighten it. That said, is there a torque spec for the oil drain plug? My internet search has been unsuccessful in finding a torque spec, if applicable. Thanks in advance.

I believe you have a Lariet, the oil pan is not aluminum. Mine is an XLT and is steel.

I put mine up on ramps both sides. I needed to remove skid plate so needed more room.
Lesson learned- when on ramps put a rag on the crossmember just aft of the drain plug. Because of the incline the oil will want to hit the wire loom and cross member. The cross member has a hole on top that the oil will get into and a real pain to clean out the cross member. I might try a piece of cardboard next time to direct the oil.
I can reach the filter from either the top or the bottom with a regular filter oil filter spanner. I did the bottom because I was already under the truck. There is enough room to drop the filter out the bottom spilling very little oil keeping the filter upright. A little harder to reach from the top if its on ramps.
Another lesson learned - if your removing the filter from the bottom make sure your arm is not under the drain spout.
