Today I noticed the drivers side seat which is in it's furthest back point, is roughly 1.5" closer to the dash compared to the passenger seat. Did some searches but really came up with no exact explanation as to why. Any ideas?

Did you test if the front passenger seat lifts as high as the drivers? I thought it might not but not sure

Could be height?
When I move either seat downward it also goes back.

Interesting as I hate the way car seats work, raise seat and they move forward. Makes no sense as one should be able to raise straight up.
As a side note my old BMW E39 had the same issue but as luck would have it, BMW had a metal clip in the seat track that could be removed to allow seat to go back further.

It might be limited going back due to the power supply under the driver's seat.
But as others have said, the up/down and forward/back are wonky.
