Easy tire question for the knowledgeable (not me)

Stock 2025 Rangle XLT FX4 Off Road. Can I put Yokohama Geolander
255/70R18
on my truck without any other mods?
My tires are the Goodyear 255 65 R18.
If my googling is correct the Geolanders are 2 inches taller?
And I bet that won't work without something else like a lift, maybe
more than that.
Any clues would be appreciated.

Looks like about an inch taller. I can't say for sure, but seems reasonable they'd fit, but I'd wait until someone here who has this size weighs in.

Should be 1.01 inches taller. The formula is ( Profile as a percentage X width in mm) x 2 sidewalks. Take that answer x .0394 converts to inches. Take that product + 18 inches rim size = total tire height.
Example for 255/70/18: (.7 x 255 = 178.5) x 2 = 357 x .0394 = 14.07 + 18 = 32.07 total tire height

Sidewall not sidewalks ....lol. I will be trying to put on 265/70/18's on my 2025 Lariat next early next week. If you can wait I will know for sure what fits. By measuring they should fit but sometimes tire sizes run odd. My biggest problem was finding lightweight tires. The stock tires are only 34 lbs. Tires such as the KO3's weigh over 50lbs. That would take a toll on the 2.7's hp, mpg. and performance. The lightest acceptable tire I could find is the Goodyear Workhorse AT SL load range. It had good reviews and is 38lbs.

Any AT light weight tires with maybe a 6 or 8 ply. The OEM tires are 4 ply, probably would just go one size bigger (265). Don't want any type of lift or level.

Huge helpful reponses! Thanks everyone. I'm in no hurry....have to see how the tax man hits us in the early spring. I like the look of many of the lifted Rangers I see here, but I'm 70 and getting into it as is ain't like it used to be. Plus we don't do any mudding or crawling over large obstacles. We do tow a 17 foot camper and though I wore K02s on my 4 Runner for many years I don't think I'll suffer them on the Ranger. I didn't even look at tire weight with the Geolanders and will definitly look at the Goodyear Workhorse AT. Thanks again everyone.

70 as well! Wish the steering wheel moved with the easy out feature like all my other vehicles. So much for the golden years...lol!

Yes but most likely it is over reading speed now.....I think OEMs do this intentionally to avoid any liability regarding accidents, traffic violations. etc. According to a GPS my Ranger is over reading by almost 3 mph. Will test it again after tire install but expecting it to still be under, at least according to a math calculation. Time will tell.

Interesting, my RR speedometer was originally dead on at 60 mph, but after about 10k miles, with a little tread wear, that went up to 61 indicated at a true 60. I would never accept a 3 mph error, regardless of tire size or condition. On my Land Cruiser 200 there was an easy user calibration that could be done to compensate for different tires. Does the Ford computer allow this?

OTH I normally set my cruise control speed by what the Garmin gps shows, I actually don’t pay too much attention to the truck speedo…. The gps is mounted above the level of the dash and it is easier to see without lowering my eyes from the road, and I am looking at nav prompts there too. If I had a Head Up Display I might pay more attention to the truck speedo, I LOVE that feature on my wife’s RDX.

With 255 being the stock width, using the stock wheels, the 255/70R18 will be 1” taller as already discussed. That essentially will add 1/2 of ride/entry height. It would put the tire 1/2“ closer to any common clearance concern points, which only 1/2“ should not be creating any issues with clearance at all. I would not expect any notable issues at all really other then a slight speedo/odo discrepancy which would not be much of a concern at all IMO.

As a general rule of thumb, I have never seen any problem with bumping an oe tire size 1” diameter and 1” width, meaning net 1/2“ decrease in clearance but seems most trucks can easily handle that sort of size bump. Only down side is a slight decrease in fuel milage, but tend to look a whole lot better then smaller oe size.

Installed the Goodyear Workhorse AT 265/70/18 on the stock rims and no lift/level or wheel spacers .They ride so much better than the Territorys. A bit pricier than the Territorys but I was able to sell the stock Territorys for $550 (900 miles) which helped. The new tires fit fine and in my opinion look good. I would not go any bigger for 100% stock.
