First Mods?

My Ranger XLT is due next week and i have to decide which mods to start with.. Right now, my plan is to get Line-X,the bed install Ionic 41 running boards and add the BAK MX4 E-Z Lift tonneau cover. From there, I have numerous potential upgrades I will probably add a sliding cargo tray to the bed and PPF on the front body. I am not looking for a badlands toy, but a reliable tow vehicle and basic transportation. Most of the stuff everyone harps about on the web is for serious off roading and I don't need to waste money on that. Any suggestions on what would be worth considering to make my drive time more pleasant?

First thing I did was install some Husky all weather floor mats and mudflaps from RokBlokz. I'm still debating what I want to do with the bed but at this point I'm leaning towards spraying it and doing a TPE bed mat. Tonneau cover is on my to-do list for later, but that'll be all I plan to do to my Ranger for the foreseeable future.

Seat covers, floor mats, and mud flaps are definitely good first mods

Hope that tonneau cover has some kinda release latch or pinch sliders, instead of just an exposed latch cord to release it (for security)... since it's easy to slide something like a slim-jim under the cover in back, snag an unprotected (uncovered) cord and bob's yur uncle for bed entry. All the better tonneau covers have the complete cord covered and use some type of mechanism that makes it much more difficult to gain entry.

I focused on protection when I first got my lariat. I used wax stripper, iron remover, then a light polish, then multiple coats of CQuartz ceramic coating. Then floor mats, bed mat, and lanolin undercoating on everything that could rust (excluding exhaust and brakes). I later added soundproofing in the doors and did the focal speaker upgrade while there (and lanolin spray inside the doors too). Eventually I got around to a mishimoto transmission pan which added 2 quarts capacity but more importantly (to me) a drain plug to make future maintenance easier. Same with a rear differential cover (ford performance). I also added an oil separator and also a larger turbo intercooler (the latter for towing on the increasingly hot summer days). Rounding out my mods are method 703 wheels with Nokian outpost nat’s for spring-fall, and dedicated snow tires on my stock rims.

The Husky mats are on my to-do list, and I haven't decided which mud flaps to go with. I like the Weather Tech, but the price is too dear compared to more value priced models.

I want seat covers, but I have never had good luck with finding ones that fit and hold up. I plan on keep trying to figure something out.

One of the reasons for going with the BAK E-Z lift is that it uses a latch mechanism on the cord.

Oh crap I forgot they changed the bed rails for 26. I am sure it will happen, I love the 650, way better than the Bakflip I had prior .

Gotcha... is the cord completely covered, or hanging out in places between the latches?
Just something to consider for bed security.

Yes, but nice to deter those who are dishonest as well (release latches and completely covered cord). Wish all Tonneau cover manufacturers took this into consideration.
