Basic functions like lock/unlock, vehicle status and location tracking (if enabled) should be free? It doesn’t cost you anything to download the app

I guess it’s not free if you take into account that you have to buy a Ford vehicle to make it useful. But it doesn’t cost you anything to download the app onto your phone.
I’m not a big fan of apps as many are loaded with spyware and are prone to have security and privacy issues. But that’s a conversation for other forums. When/if you download the ford pass app, you’ll have the ability to remote start you truck from the app. You can check/monitor your tire pressure from the app too. If you are doing your own maintenance, you can add your routine maintenance into the app which can help with warranty issues. You can use the app to redeem the points you earn when buying your truck or scheduled maintenance from the dealership. You can track or get notifications on recalls also.

The Ford app is OK. I wish the lock/unlock and start functions communicated to the vehicle more efficiently (I want to push the button and have the outcome happen in under 3 seconds).
As for the privacy piece. I mean, lets be honest, the Ford app isnt going to get any information that isn't already available off your phone without the app. It sucks, but there's nowhere yiu can go in the world today or anything you can do that isn't easily traceable in an instant (unless you stole Ms. Guthrie..LOL).

Don't forget my favorite use - scheduled starts.
I leave home at the same time each day, as well as work. It's nice to have the truck auto start 5 minutes before I leave, giving time for the HVAC to do its thing.
Another feature I like is that I had a message on my phone one morning telling me I had a low tire.
