There are only two reviews on Ford's website, one glowing one the opposite. I'd like to have this, but not if the quality is bad. People who bought it - do you like it?

Here's the bad review

Sure. I would expect them to be mostly equivalent (seeing it is the same company after all). But that is just my two cents.

I'll check their return policy, maybe I can just try it and send back if it doesn't work.

I was planning on ordering one in June (once my truck is built and shipped).

I bought one and had it installed by Ford. At its high price point its hard to give it a glowing review. The release mechanism to get it to swing on mine requires quite a bit of force and anything really heavy in it makes that worse. Overall, its fairly sturdy, fits the truck well, and keeps things that would otherwise be loose from flying around and dry. If it were $150 I'd give it 4 stars out of 5, at full price its maybe 3 stars out of 5.

I bought the OEM swing-out boxes for both sides. No issues installing and work perfectly. Good storage capacity, so as not to require a large truck box, taking up even more of the smaller "crew-cab" bed space. I shopped around and found a much better deal (for OEM, always higher price) than most Ford places were selling them for.

I have the right side version and love it. Only issue was removing the tie down bolts. Go slow and don't break the bolt off in the hole...ugg!!

Exactly... and make sure to "cut/pick" all of the sprayed in bed-liner (if you have one) out of the Torx bolts before attempting removal and don't use an impact driver to remove them, they're in there gawd awful tight and just eats up the head, even on a tough Torx bolt. LOL... take my word on this one! :( Whomever at the factory thought it would be a great idea to use RED Loctite on the threads, instead of a dab of blue Loctite, was an idiot IMO.

Other than installing it myself, this is my experience 100%

Yup, 100% agree. My neighbor even came over on the night I put mine in due to the amount of swearing that was coming from my driveway. I ended up using vice grips to get the POS bolts out due to stripping the heads.

Used vice grips also. That is when one of the bolts sheared off. At least now I have a nice new thread repair kit.

Mine (OEM) is fine but the hinges are disappointing. Does the Real Truck version have better hinges? I have a spray in bedliner and a bed mat so the 'swing out' is a bit of an effort...not big deal though.

I have the Ford branded version for the right side and keep fairly heavy items in it (hitch, ratchet straps, tool bag). The box could be sturdier, but it has held up fine. It keeps things out of the way but is easy to take out of you need the extra bed space.
Ford accessories website regularly runs sales so you can get them for around $200.
