Hi,

I have read the FORScan & 140L tank threads and they’re not covering what I need. I have a 2024 RR with long ranger 140L tank. The fuel gauge and DTE are not working. I have successfully updated the IPC module for the 140L / 37G tank size but his also points to PCM module for fuel level, so now the cluster has the ability to indicate correctly if the PCM gives it the correct info. I have been trialling for months, with partial enjoyment driving I will get approx 1000km range for close to empty (about 10 days for me @ between 12.7 & 13.5 L/100km). When I interrogate the PCM the fuel sender is giving approx correct % level, there is an error here and it is volume and where the extra volume comes from related, my math has the error in the top 1/3 volumes being different, the tank manufacturer has confirmed this, this could be fixed by tweaking the actual volume through more trial and error.
I have then tried to find in the PCM where / how to change tank volume, I couldn’t see an option. I also have a Ranger6G (Plainum in AU) V6D with the factory accessory ARB long range tank ( option only available on diesel models), with this fitted there is an EXTRA PCM module in the profile that has tank volume fields (along with snow plow enable/disable and one other field) that are programmed to the larger tank size, this seems to be the miracle fix needed.

My question, does anyone know how / if possible to download / backup a NON-ASBUILT module (I’ve tried and am still trying) so I can look at the code and then potentially LOAD this module as an extra PCM module into another vehicle? And then how to do that?

I need to get this working because I’ve never got better than 12.2L/100km on a trip, no load easy driving and when actually enjoying the truck fuel gauge makes sure you get home and the numbers are 20+ L/100km.

Herrod I think is the only Ford Performance authorized tuner in Australia. Might reach out to them to see if they can help. If you can't fix it in Forscan, maybe they can in FDRS. Hopefully they can help.

this is easy, change the vin in forscan to the model with the features you want, then use FDRS to program and configuration the affected module, then use forscan to change back original VIN

PM me if you need help

Hi all,

thx so far, @BigMeatsBronc I may take you up on the PM, I will do the reading and have a go.

Yes the long range tank was a dealer fitted option, NOT factory, so warranty managed separate BUT warranted to NOT affect any other factory warranty. Sold through the ARB network, http://thelongranger.com.au/ford/rangerraptor/2022-nextgen.
The local dealer, Out of Town 4WD has a top shelf reputation here, they have provided all the tech help.

I have ear marked the Herrod upgrade and they are my backup plan, I wanted 10K plus km’s on the truck before going down that path to iron out any factory issues, we’ve had diffs failing here, not coming with correct oil levels and not picked up in dealer delivery checks, and distance is something we do well in AU, so drivetrain can be tested.

awesome part!
Big Meats,
I have a 2025 US spec Ranger Raptor model I installed a Long Range America 35 gallon tank in. I really, really want to have my fuel tank capacity changed so my Distance til empty (DTE), MPG and fuel level will work correctly. Do you have any advise--Nathan, if you are reading this got any ideas?

Forscan doesn't seem to work on the 2025 models. The dash module still has legacy parameters you can change like in the published Forscan instructions for these tanks. If you make changes there, nothing happens. https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14698&start=60 I have read there that the parameters of tank size are now stored and changed in the ECM-- has to be changed there--and so far, for DTE there is no fix. I have seen calibration intercept modules for other ford vehicles that have the same problem such as https://sbfilters.com/products/2023-ford-super-duty-fuel-capacity-recalibration-tool but they are not available for the ranger as of yet.

It sounds like the tank size can be changed with FDRS to correct the DTE calculation. From reading Super Duty forums only a few technicians across the country have been able to figure it out so it must not be very straight forward.

Was this in response to my post? i said it the DTE can be changed in FDRS somehow, not in Forscan.
It's in response to the whole thread. I would have quoted you if I was.
