I have a intermittent issue of the fuel door unlatching and popping up above the body line cut out while driving. I am pretty sure I am giving it good ample force when closing but ever so often, I am driving down the road and see my fuel door as unlatched. This is just on regular paved city and highway driving and not off road.

Just wondering if anybody else has seen this issue?

I noticed in several times while walking by the truck in my garage. It must be popping out while driving and I didn’t notice until later.

I’ve noticed the same but then I realized it’s from me leaning over the side to get something from the bed. I’ve been checking ever since I realized that and it hasn’t happened again.

I wish I could say the same for me but once I became sentient of the issue, I have taken steps to make sure I am not the cause and it still remains.

FMC's social media team here had me contact them and after a few back and forth giving information, basically was told to contact the dealership and make a service visit for it. Eventually that will happen I guess but it seems like it may be a more wider issue and I am not ready to run to the dealership and at best, they just put the same design parts back on it and repeat.

I noticed the fuel door panel is not a really good lock. In fact I was really surprised (after my Honda Ridgeline) that the gas cap flap cover does NOT lock after you lock your vehicle. It is always open with a push, and not even a gas cap to prevent contamination by vandals etc. This, I think was a big omission by Ford, and a great opportunity for the after market!

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.
We all appreciate that Ford is monitoring these posts, but you guys seriously do nothing but gather info only tell us to go to the dealer. That's useless to an owner having issues in a brand new vehicle.

Instead, how about you reaching out to their local dealership, relay the problem to them, and then have the service writer call us to arrange a time to pickup our vehicle and drop off a loaner so we, the owners already put out by something failing on our vehicle, aren't jumping through additional hoops with this customer service theater? Otherwise all your doing is asking us to detail the problem to you before having to do it all again with the dealership... and before the dealership even has a chance to deny the warranty claim (because that's really when you're help is needed).

And before anyone jumps on me regarding this post, this is the same useless corporate PR nonsense Ford does on every forum with a new model. In a couple years they'll stop visiting the forum and nothing will have been solved. It's literally just data mining with extra steps for internal QC wrapped in a feel-good package.

Pretty much this. Coming from a Jeep forum, they have the same corporate brand social media teams on them also. Most times they are just contractors doing a thing with a narrow swim lane they have to stay in and follow a script.

They are never problem solvers or will drill down on a issue.

Thought I would update since it has been close to a month since I started this thread.

I have had only other instance of the fuel door popping open again and that was maybe 3 weeks ago. Been staying close ever since so far.

So something either has worn in and is working better, or some unknown inadvertent causation by me but I am not hanging my hat on that just yet.

I couldn't agree more! Well said!
