So a few weeks ago my truck was broken into. Glass is one thing but they scratched the door and tore my seat in the process of stealing absolutely nothing. But this wasn’t the real crime.

The real crime was the body shop’s excuses for delaying the return of my vehicle. They actually told me that they weren’t sure how to fix the seat and had to send it to a 3rd party.

I informed my insurance company that have zero confidence in the repairs being completed by the shop. And boy, they did not disappoint. I got it back with more scratches than it had when they received…and all over the truck. Including the door that they repainted! Then there’s the orange peel from the front fender to the rear door

They removed things like my sill plate and have not returned it. The interior was full of sanding dust.

It’s going through a higher level with my insurance. They asked me to take it back so the shop could fix it. I said no thanks. It came back worse than when I gave it to them. I requested an independent evaluator to check it over.

I’m just venting. What’s done is done. Hopefully it gets the quality repair it deserves.

Damn that sucks, personally when I went through a similar situation years ago. I refused the seat clover to be repaired and had it replaced. Maybe an option to consider.

These are some of the reasons I would have demanded Ford being the repair shop. For newer vehicles, the dealerships body shop works best IMHO.
Hope this gets resolved soon!

Not sure if it’s the same over there in the US - but I always make sure my insurance policy has the option for me to choose my own repairer. Too many times I hear of these horror stories of dodgy repairs from shitty preferred repairers from insurance companies

Good luck mate - please keep us informed of how you go with it all

I’ll pour some of my morning coffee out in honour of a wounded brother

That sucks. I can recommend a first class shop if you're willing to drive a ways...

I don't wish needing a body shop on my worst enemies. After seeing some of the "work" turned out. I guess it's like anything else, when you find a good one, you just stick with it. To the OP's point, use the term "pre accident condition" for anything that's damaged. Usually will stop half ass repairs in their tracks.

On a side note, am I wrong thinking that my alarm should have gone off?

I was sitting inside 20’ away from the truck and it definitely did not go off.

You can select your own shop in the US. Some policies might vary on this but all of mine have allowed it. By the time I call my insurance company my vehicle is already in route to the shop of my choice and I just tell them where to send the check.

Sorry to hear and see the damage. Some folks just don’t have respect for other people’s property these days. I went through a similar situation with my Fusion sport, had to file a complaint with my insurance company because it came back worse damage than it went in with. Good body shops are like some dealerships these days. Hard to find.

Have a picture of the seat damage? I can't tell from that one picture what happened to it
