Hole in hood for gas pistons

I have a 2026 Ford Ranger XL. I am on the second set of hood struts for this truck. The issue is the nut they come with is slightly less the 3/4 wide. The strut holes in my hood are 1" X 3/4". All the kits say they fit a 2026 Ford Ranger. Did Ford change the size of the strut hole between 2025 and 2026?

I just installed this kit if it's redline...the two square holes for the nut are opposites, one vertical and one horizontal so to speak. I oriented the nut the same way on both, you're supposed to center it vertically in the horizontal-shaped hole best you can if that makes sense.

EDIT: that doesn't look like the redline kit, different hardware you're holding. Don't think that's the right one.

I have attached a picture of the bottom of my hood (driver's side) and where all the instructions show the piston attachment area is. However the 2 I ordered had nuts that were too small to reach the sides. I was curious if the 2024 & 2025 had smaller holes.

OP, if your kit is a Chinese knock off from Amazon, return it and order the real deal from Redline.
A bit more expensive, a lot less aggravating than dealing with inferior hardware.

I am communicating with RedLIne but their nuts look like the same size. If you have a 2024 or 2025 Ranger XL, I am curious how large the rectangles in your hood are?
