Just got my Ranger XLT and noticed that in order to close the hood I have to drop it from oh... 2 feet for it latch.
A site search did have a reference to tightening the rubber bump stops that turning 3.25 times to adjust.
Wondering if others did or is that's how they close?

I’ve got a 25 xlt and the 1st time I closed the hood, Perhaps I was too gentle with it and it didn’t want to fully latch. After a couple of times looking under the hood, it fully closes and latches with a 4” drop. Maybe your latch just needs to break in?

I just ordered a set of redline hood struts, so will see how latching the hood goes after they arrive and get installed.

They force mine requires hood struts would not work. That went through my mind as they are on my list.

When new my hood needed a pretty hard drop. After installing the Redlines I made the simple snubber adjustments (there are 4) and all was well till I installed my Airplex bonnet guard, after that I had to slip 2 washers under the latch. Works perfect now and no visible alignment discrepancies.

I wouldn't want it to be too easy. Mine requires 12 - 18" but I really dont care. It latches. Im gonna install hood strut anyway

Mine latched fine but would get the "hood ajar" light frequently. So I did the bump stop adjustment and played with the "best closing while not messing up the hood to fender alignment too much" game a bit. Now I have to sort of help it with a bit of a press down when it's closing rather than dropping it from two feet up.

I had hoods up on two of mine tonight.
Yea, have to drop them from from 12-18“s typically gets it latched 1st time.
True, Closing it lightly doesn’t seem to work.

I lowered the hood latch a little on mine.

The dealer adjusted both of ours, under warranty.

I have a question about the shock absorbers that you can get for these. I seen a picture of a RR in one of the reviews on Amazon that showed that they bent, I think is the right word, the hood where they attach because the hood is aluminum and the hardware they gave for this particular one was for a round hole when the the hole in the hood is square. Does anyone have this issue?

I don't have any issues with the Redline Tuning hood struts on my RR and they have been on for almost 2 years. I have had their system on my 2013 Mustang that uses a very similar hood insert for over 12 years with no issues. Their stuff is very well made!

Thank you! Did you get the stainless steel ones ? And how different is it closing the hood than just dropping it before the struts ?

Well, I don’t have my RR yet - I read posts here to learn before I actually purchase mine next year - but I have installed Redline struts on my 4Runner and my Sprinter van and in each of those cases the struts did not affect the closing in any way. (FYI: the 4Runner’s hood is aluminum.)

I think the struts provide their lifting power as they are extended while you lift the hood. The struts just slide without any resistance when they slide/shorten as you close the hood.

I have the black ones, their PLUS system. I didn't notice a difference in the height required to close the hood. When I talked to them they said there was no difference in lifting force between the Black and the Stainless gas springs. The only difference was the warranty (4 vs 5 years) and I prefered to more stock look of the black gas springs.
