My wife placed an order back in Feb for a Lariat 2.7. At the time, the dealer said to expect a VIN within 45 days. Now, she’s been told it might be considerably longer due to an issue with engine availability being effected by a recent recall. But I can’t get a firm answer if this is real or speculation. If true, she is considering buying something off a lot, but not with enthusiasm as nothing within 500 miles comes close to her option list, particularly the color. Was hoping someone on this forum might have had heard if this is indeed the case, that orders may be prolonged, so she can make an informed decision how to proceed. TIA

I think they are afraid to tell you they don't have an allocation for the Ranger. I haven't heard anything about Ranger Lariat delays. Ask the dealer if they actually have an allocation. There is a guy on Utube that gives updates on production and problems. But again it's all about having an allocation. Long McArthur Ford is the Utube channel. Very informative

Great! Thanks for that info! They do have 2 allocations, at least they told me they had. It was a discussion had on the day she paid her deposit and received the order receipt from the dealer.

Wow! Answered all her questions in 5 minutes. No constraints but no scheduling until next week and that is for production after 1 June so she will miss the employee discount window. Again, really appreciate that heads up on the You Tube channel. At least she can plan for it.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I believe the discount is for when you purchase and take delivery. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ford extend the Employee pricing program. Keep your fingers crossed.

One of my local ford dealerships waited until the national ford discounts were invalid before even giving me a call back on a f150 I planned on factory supercharging.

I believe the discount was $8,500

How unique is the truck she is wanting? Can you do a nationwide search to find one and fly in and get it or ship it to you?

That's a major F.U. from that dealer. I hope you didn't reward that behavior by buying from them?

If you watch the Long McAuthor video from a couple of days ago, they talk about how to secure the price (you may have to reorder and complete a purchase order) in the 'current advertised price. I think it was about 59 minutes into the video.

They chat all over the place, but it can be informative

Good luck; you can see the timeline of my order in my signature line

Just posted a couple of days ago, the Long McAuthor guys detail how to lock in a price on a vehicle order to save the current Ford Employee Pricing.
