I am fully convinced that my 24 Xlt was built from spare parts on a Friday afternoon. It had endless little things wrong here and there and a drive train issue that never could get dealt with. Long story short, I'd had enough after one year of ownership and traded it for a 25.

I had heard some information about the updated 2.3l and I was curious what differences I would notice.

For those of you on the fence about a 24 vs 25, I can say confidently that the 25 is a noticeable upgrade(judging from a sample size of one)

Without getting too wordy, I made a list of improvements/changes I have noticed in my 25 so far.

- Exhaust note is deeper and growly. No more sewing machine!
- Throttle response is soooo much better. This actually makes it feel like I'm driving a different vehicle. No lag and generally peppier feeling.
- Brakes take half as much input to use.
- The power window motors are stronger.
- The turbo is noticeably louder and I'm assuming more powerful. I had cruise control set on hills that my 24 would downshift to 8th on. In the 25 I heard the turbo wind up and it stayed in 10th.
- My transmission actually goes through 2nd gear now, instead of 1st-3rd.
- Subtle changes have been made around the cab with materials and design that are improvements. For example, the circle around the ignition now has a rubber cover so it doesn't get scratched up (little stuff like that).
- The fit and finish on the 25 is generally better than my 24 was.

It sucked having to trade in and lose money, but literally every change in the 25 is an improvement and the truck is more enjoyable to drive.

Just thought I'd share my experience.

Conversely, for all those that complain about the short electronic shifter in the ‘24 Lariat, I never liked the big manual shifter in my ‘21 Lariat. I also like the added technology that comes with the electronic shifter. The 2.7L engine is way better than the old 2.3 too. Loving my new truck.

I think the main gripe we all have with the '24s is the abysmal throttle response, and the valley just off idle. I can say with confidence i cured it 90% with a Banks pedal monster, set to Normal +6, with the off idle throttle desensitize set at 3, in Eco mode. Allot to take in, because Ford Fed it up so bad, but it drives like a normal Truck throttle response wise and has plenty of power when i need it. The problem is all Ford trying to kiss the OLD EPAs butt. That EPA is gone now, though. Try it before you trade it!
