Thanks for the input. I've been in Hemi Rams since 2009 and the wife in Hemi Durangos since 2011. The last new car purchases were 2022 Ram and 2022 Durango GT with the V6. I found out in 2021 that I have a back deformity that causes me pain depending on how I sit. I traded my (mid life crises)2018 Scat Pack Challenger on the Durango GT as it had a better ride and did not hurt me as bad as the Challenger. Well I can no longer sit in the Durango any longer than a hour, so it time for it to go and we will be getting another truck. I am able to drive the Ram all day and not get bothered, as I drove 26 hours non stop from FL to IL last summer. With that said comfort comes first and power is second.

I have test driven the F150s and the ride is too harsh. Ram no longer has the V8 and the Inline 6 is showing to be problematic. I like the look of the new Ranger, but have not test driven any yet and I was wanting to get input from owner like yourselves to point me in the right direction. I realize it will come down to how I feel during test drives to make a decision. I tow a light utility trailer and a small 16ft john boat, so a Raptor could tow them both. The wife likes the look of the Raptor, but I'm liking the MPG of the 2.7 V6. It looks like test drives are next. Thanks.

I see people worried about mpg. Mileage varies substantially due where you live, congestion, driving style etc. For me it came down to smileage, how much I smile per mile driven. The Raptor rates much higher than the 2.7 in that department. The mileage I get doesn't seem to matter all that much as the extreme enjoyment I get driving the Raptor far outweighs it.
You may want to listen to your wife, you know the saying happy wife happy life.

I test drove several trucks. What sold me on the Ranger was a 2.7 XLT. The truck was the clear winner for me between brands.

As far as trim levels, I settled on an FX4 Lariat with the blackout package. I really loved the Raptor but I couldn’t justify the cost difference based on how I’ll use the truck. I also have been driving a tuned Mustang for the last 18 years and am ready to stop using 93 octane fuel.

By the time all was said and done the A/Z pricing plan that Ford is currently offering put a Lariat at the price point I was hoping to be at. I have every intention of keeping this truck for a long time and didn’t want any regrets regarding options.

my truck is scheduled for build on June 2 & I couldn’t be more excited. Now I just have to sell a Mustang.

The 3.0 definitely has more punch, but unless you're pushing it hard or towing often, the 2.7 is solid. The Raptor ride is noticeably smoother and more planted off-road. As for the seats, yeah, there's a difference in cushion feel. Raptor seats are firmer and more supportive, especially on longer drives.

Out of curiosity, when did you place the order? I ordered a 2.7 XLT on 4/12, and as of this moment it's not scheduled (not too surprised).

<edit - just checked again and I DO have the build schedule - the same week as you>

BTW I am also coming from a Mustang. 2006 Convertible GT in Legend Lime. Still love that car.

I originally ordered it on X-plan in mid March. Then Ford rolled out their new A/Z pricing incentive, so I cancelled my order, and rebuilt the truck on April 7th (saved another $2K). On the 17th I got an e-mail from Ford that my truck was scheduled for the week of June 2nd.

btw, my Mustang is also a 2006 GT. Black coupe though.

My beloved Mustang was bought by the first person who actually showed up to look at it and didn’t try to low-ball me over FB Marketplace. This sounds pathetic, but I’m really happy that it’s going to someone who will take good care of it. I worked hard to keep it nice and didn’t want to see someone tear it up. I’ll now be cruising around in my daughters 2004 Forester X (with no A/C) until July.
