Just so you know, Safeco and Liberty Mutual are the company. Just like Farmers and Bristol west.
I didn't know that, but it doesn't really matter (although that fact was not disclosed by the broker.). What matters are the total cost and the service for the same coverage. I had Progressive for a while. It was cheaper than State Farm, but I had flying road debris smash my windshield and dent the A pillar. Their telephone claims person was so overworked that getting the car repaired in a timely manner was a nightmare. I fear that Safeco would be a similar experience.

I'm currently with Progressive. I just got a quote to replace my 2019 F-250 with a 2025 Ranger and the quote came in $350/annually less expensive. I was surprised.

I come from a LONG line of midsize, fullsize, and now HD pickup trucks and SUVs, so I unfortunately have gotten a good taste of which vehicles cost more to insure over the years. For example, Nissan and Toyota always cost more. And typically midsize 4x4s cost more than fullsize 4x4s (I assume because they are used off-road more often and they are also less safe in crashes). But, lo and behold this Ford Ranger seems like a very economical truck in the insurance industry.

Between the insurance rate cut, the improved fuel economy, and the reduction in monthly payment I am very strongly considering going back to the Ford Ranger. I bought a new one fresh out of college (first year of the FX4 package) as a congrats gift to myself and now that I'm just a few years away from retiring from my current job maybe I'll order myself another one as a congrats for nearly 25 years of working for the citizens :D
In Canada. Had a 2017 F150. My insurance went up over more then 100 bucks a month for my 2025 FX4 Ranger. I might not have bought one if I knew that ahead of time.

The quotes I got for my Ranger Raptor were hovering in average 70-80k import territory when I just ran a bunch of cars through the insurance company before purchase.

I figure it's a stupidity tax I have to pay because of other peoples' shenanigans.

I'm convinced it's because of where I live, but my Ranger costs quite a bit more to insure than my '16 F150 and my Lotus.

This part resonated with me - I also bought my 1st new car as a '99 Ranger - XLT, 4x4, off road (pre fx4), flareside, forest green soon after college. It was perfect for me and my dog for a long time. I eventually gave it up for a 2008 F-150 which I hated and always thought I'd come back to a Ranger, someday. I was excited when Rangers came back, but I was wildly underwhelmed with them. The gen6 changed that and I now have a 2024 Lariat/ cactus gray. I have to say I love the new one and it totally feels liek a modernized version of my 1999, with the capabilities that fit my current day needs. I think you'd probably feel the same way.
