Is larger bore size a concern on Method 703s?

Just a quick question about some wheels I found on marketplace. A set of like new Method 703s 6x5.5 17x8.5 +35 but CB is 106… I know our lugs are tapered so I assume they will self center with proper tightening pattern but is the CB something that needs to match perfectly or will these wheels with larger CB work just fine? Thanks for any advice. Also, what is a reasonable price for a set of lightly used method 703s? He is asking 850 but I can get them new for $1000. Thinking $600 is more in line

I bought my 703's new from tire rack and they came with plastic rings for the center bore. I had my tires mounted and balanced at the dealer and they didn't even look at the center rings I brought along with the wheels because they just snapped the ones they had in (these 703's are also sold in the ford performance catalog).

I suspect the plastic rings are just to help when mounting the wheel because as you mentioned it's the lugs that hold the wheel on, but I honestly don't know for sure.

Thanks for the info and quick response 👍

I think the method wheels are meant to mount as lug centric, but adding hub centric rings may help reduce risk of wheel vibration. Not sure it would be necessary.

I'm also in the market for a set of 703s. Curious what other people are doing for this.

I think $700 would be more realistic for like new / lightly used wheel price. If the seller doesnt budge, then go for the new set. $1000 is a good deal. I ended up going with the new set of 703 after some sour experience with a local FB market seller.

Its not uncommon to use hub ring adapters. Even though aftermarket wheels can be lug-centric, correct size hub ring adapters will help to center the wheel (ie less vibration) as Stemplar mentioned above.

Thank you, I didn’t pick them up yet and this is super useful input. I will see if they are still on marketplace next week and see what I can do on price!

I have about 1500-2000 miles on lug centric wheels and I haven't had any vibration issues. Getting a hub ring could help but I think hub centric concerns are a little overblown.

I assume the people overly stressed about it would be very upset if they took off their tires and looked at the wheel weights.

Just put 703s on my 24 Ranger FX4. They did come with hub rings from American Trucks, but luckily I was unaware of this since the included hub rings don’t fit the Ranger. I bought some from West Coast Wheel Accessories on Amazon. The wheels mounted perfectly by Discount Tire, no vibration whatsoever, and the 703 looks amazing on the Ranger.
