I have a 25 Lariat with the lane centering system. I have used it for most of the 18,000 miles I have drove the truck. I previously had a lane centering system on a 2021 Honda Ridgline so the concept was not new to me.

I find myself fighting the system as it takes me back and forth in the lane. It does work well on long gentle curves. The Honda did a better job of just keeping center in the lane but it did have a habit of wanting to follow exit markings on an expressway whether you wanted to go or not.

I have been running Lariat some with the lane centering system off lately and while I sometimes miss it, I feel like the driving experience is better since I am not correcting the lane centering wander. Plus I eliminate the annoying "hands on wheel" warning.

I am wondering what others experience is with lane centering on the Ranger and do you like it and use it?

I just leave mine on low. Never had the "hands on wheel" warning and I take my hand off the wheel all the time. Think ours's (Canadian version) is sent up differently that US version.

I disabled my lane centering as much as possible. I think I have it set on low sensitivity and alert only. I find that configured that way, it gives me a very slight vibration on the steering wheel if I'm getting close to the line. I would turn it all the way off if I could.

Mine come on with cruise control and is off the rest of the time. When it's on, it's at the lowest setting so it barely vibrates the wheel.

I am not a fan of any lane centering programming because they get that back and forth, commonly called ping ponging. Nissan has had it pretty bad in the loaners I had, bouncing back and forth in the lane and trying to take the exit instead of staying on the highway

I get the “hands on wheel” warning seems like too much. I do use it, but I don’t like the positioning - seems it puts the truck too far right in the lane (centering the driver’s eye-line, not the center of the truck) so I too feel like I’m fighting it constantly…
@Wallowa Ranger - that’s not a US-Ranger, eh? We’d burn the truck down if we couldn’t completely disable the system and have our freedom!😂

I thought it was called lane keeping or lane assist. I use it on the highway only, which is not that often. I tried taking my hands off the wheel to see what it does. Ping ponging is a good description, but it soon gave me the Hands on the Wheel warning.. I didn't know you could change the sensitivity, I'll look into it.

"Lane Keeping" and "Lane Centering" are two different things:

Ford Lane-Keeping System and Lane Centering are two distinct technologies. Lane-Keeping is a safety net that bumps you back only when you start drifting. Lane Centering is an active convenience feature that continuously steers the vehicle to keep it in the middle of the lane, working alongside Adaptive Cruise Control.

If you have adaptive cruise control, then you probably have Lane Centering. I like Lane Centering a lot and it works well on my 2026 Ranger XLT. I learned a long time ago with my Escape PHEV to grip the steering wheel in the 4 o'clock or 8 o'clock position and let the weight of your forearm be applied to the steering wheel. This applies just enough torque to the steering wheel to keep Lane Centering happy. I only get the hands on wheel warning when I forget to do this.

The Toyotas we've owned were annoying with the ping-pong effect for sure. The positive? Toyota put ACC in all trim levels.

I just sold a Ford Maverick as I got this Ranger. My Maverick was an XL (ACC meant a $10k upgrade on a $23k truck), but I DIY-added ACC and with that came lane centering (it had lane keep). The Maverick had the smoothest and most accurate lane centering I've used. It was great; not annoying at all.
I assumed a 2 year newer Ranger Lariat would be as good. Unfortunately it is not. It is less ping-pong-y than Toyotas I've had, but not as good as the Mav sadly.

Not sure why the Mav did better - newer/better: programming? Hardware? Software? Lighter vehicle? Dunno, but Ford is capable of a better lane centering system. I've never tried Blue Cruise but wonder if that would be better than what we're experiencing in the Ranger.

I drove with mine for a while after buying my 2025. I turned it off after it tried to throw me into a wide-load semi as I moved to the left side of the lane. That was when I discovered how much I was fighting it.

I have found the exact same thing to be true. Either that or it wants to favor towards the center lane near a semi and it wants to fight me to keep away from it. I like it for when I'm out of town and want to be able to take my eyes off the road for a second somewhere. Scenic. Other than that, I'm not sure it's worthwhile

The Mav might be using the same software fork as the Escape/Explorer for lane keeping/centering. Ford sells a ton of those vehicles, so not surprised if it’s more refined since they can spread the cost further.

BlueCruise is amazing. My dad’s truck has it and it is butter smooth.

surprised they didn’t offer it as an option for the Ranger, to incentivize buying a higher trim. Might be too much effort for a humble mid-sized truck

That was a common complaint with with earlier versions of BlueCruise. The later versions of BlueCruise moves you to increase distance from the semi when passing. It would be nice if this tweak could be incorporated into Lane Centering.

Lane Centering gives you 15 seconds of grace time when you take your hands of the wheel. Just enough time to open my package of M&Ms.

When I engage the cruise control it is a two button operation: 1) engage cruise 2) disengage lane keeping
