Light corrosion on negative battery terminal?

My 2024 with low miles is developing a light amount of corrosion on the negative terminal…honestly I swear it started after I hooked up my Noco genius 2 this morning…I never noticed it before but possible it was there.

Is it possible it happened just during charging today which was around 6-7 hours? What is failing, if anything?

I don't think it's related to the charger. It would have to be a major overcharging situation for that to happen.
The last time I had a fuzzy battery post was on a 12 year old battery. It lost it's seal where the post meets the top of the battery. It would off-gas at that area.

Just put a little bit of some dielectric grease on the battery terminals. Should stop any corrosion from occurring

A lanolin spray like surface sheild (or wool wax, fluid film, etc) on the terminals will keep them clean and fresh. And while you're there, spray everything metal on the underside except your brakes and exhaust, and also any (metal) nut or bolt you don't want to rust.

Thanks guys. I’m curious if the the truck can fully “sleep” if the hood is propped a couple inches? I’m charging it and want to maintain the battery so is it OK to leave the hood propped a bit for extended times while on the genius 2?

I have never hooked up a battery charger to my Ranger and have never had any problems.

I know someone in the forum said you need to charge the battery if you only do short drives. Wife and I do a 2 mile drive to the grocery store for a few weeks and then a longer drive.

If I had to battery charge my Ranger I would get rid of it.
