Like or Dislike Adaptive Cruise Control?

Just wondering what other people thought about, (ACC) Adaptive Cruise Control

I don't like Adaptive Cruise Control. Twice driving down to TN cruising at 70mph some idiot would pull in front of me at a close distance and ACC would jam on the brakes, I tighten the distance and it still happened.

Or if you're coming up on a slow moving car it will throw the anchor out right about the time you're sliding over into the left lane to pass.

A vehicle should only do what I tell it to do, when I tell it to do it.

I like it except when it puts the brakes on going down even a small hill. Just let it coast.......seems like it's controlling the speed too closely.

Love it. Easy to cancel and re-establish it with the button. You just have to learn to anticipate what it's going to do in tricky situations. I use it everywhere but I'm not located in a city.

Like it on open highway, but do find times when it drops the speed subtly and realize I'm creeping along behind someone much slower than i wanted. In heavy traffic, I just turn it off- too annoying. Have had it brake hard when someone cuts over in front of me but is no real threat. Definitely have to have the distance set to the shortest distance option. Not good or bad, it is what it is...

Can't you just turn off lane assist with the steering wheel button?
Then save it with the R button?

I have no idea what the R button is. I don't see anything on my steering wheel that has a letter R.

Sorry, I forget that we all have different trucks.
Only the Raptor has an R button. Set up your truck the way you like it and save that with the R button. ( Just like the seat memory buttons do.) Then every time you start the truck you can recall all those settings using the R button. It's become 2nd nature now.

My experience is from ACC in a Toyota Highlander (don't have that package on my XLT), so probably behaves slightly different, but I mostly hate it. In freeway driving it slows me down way before I would even think of passing, then I have to put my foot into it to maintain normal speed while passing (not going fast even, just passing semis). On two lane roads I don't typically find myself passing anyway, so it matters less, but it doesn't do anything better than me adjusting cruise control to match traffic if needed. Sounds like with Ford you can at least switch to normal cruise, with Toyota it's all you get if you have that option

I'm not sure if there is another level of lane centering from what I have, but I keep it off. Otherwise it will bump my steering when I have plenty of room, or a narrow road will make it go crazy. Doesn't do well with lane revisions where you can see the old lanes either.

I agree! I still enjoy driving, so these aids aren't for me. My Landcruiser had radar cruise, I used it once, then figured out how to switch to normal cruise.
