Monoking overlanding bed rack installed

I was googling for string and inexpensive racks that would work for a roof top tent base, or anything else I wish to do and came across monoking, who seem popular on a number of forums for different vehicles.

I googled and found the rack for less then 300 bucks delivered and grabbed it. It says it fits a ranger, and it does, dimensionally, but since our trucks have those funky plastic rails, I added a rectangular steel bar under the rack so it could just bolt up wherever it landed and the steel bar mounted to my @American Adventure LAb bed tie down spacers so no holes had to be drilled in my ranger.

Anyways, I think it came out great and will work perfect for my camping trip to West Texas in Big bend national and state parks.

I was specifically looking for something that sat below the cab top and doesn't stick out past the cab sides. I

Was that decision for cosmetic looks? Because once you start strapping or bolting all your off-roady gear to it, that definitely sticks out. The off-road load rating is 650 pounds dynamic, that is impressive. What is the material and thickness?

You can tell them to correct their description , “fits Ratpor”

IMHO you should at least double the number of bolts - drill brand new snug fitting holes through solid metal, do not rely on just the friction between two pieces of slip fit powder coated material, because that will invariably loosen over time... Thanks.

The hood guard is from tripleAliners.

@John E Davies , I do have to add more bolts. The instructions are just pics and you kind of guess where stuff goes. I drilled through metal on some spots to get some bolts where I wanted already but figured after some driving, I would recheck and adjust as needed

Edit to this for better idea on metal thickness:
The metal is some kind of steel. The mount brackets are 1/8th inch and the cross bars are 1/16th inch but possibly a hair wider as I think these are actually metric.

Ok. After driving around all week with the rack on, I decided I wanted it lower. I took 5 inches off each upright and out everything back together and now have to rack down low, like I originally wanted.

The benefit to doing this is I took a lot of single upright metal out of the bars. Everything is double stacked metal now and even more solid feeling. I whacked everything with a rubber mallet looking for vibrations and noise and have found nothing. I still have to decide where to put the smaller brackets that are in the garage still but this is even better than before.

And of course, it's South texas hot and humid.
