BEWARE!
I was very upset today when I called my dealership in Maine and was told the would not install the
RANGER RAPTOR 3.0L ECOBOOST PERFORMANCE CALIBRATION! They admitted they tried three times in a Bronco Raptor and failed.
I searched dealers in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island and was told they will not install the Ford RANGER RAPTOR 3.0L ECOBOOST PERFORMANCE CALIBRATION! Apparently is you find a SAE qualified speed shop to do it and then you tell Ford to document it you can have it added to your VIN so the warranty still hold. Why would I travel to some other state to have this done for more money than the Ford website charged me and have something go wrong at home. My dealer would say SORRY WE DID T DO IT! This is so sad and I am so BUMMED!
Even though my part is at the dealers parts department I am fighting a battle to get it returned because on their computers it can not be returned.
I wasted well over and hour trying to figure this out and now I am waiting to see if I will be refunded do to NO FAULT OF MY OWN.

No offense, but it really is a simple process. I get why people get the dealerships to install them, but it’s truly easier to do on your own.

Yes it’s easy but if the dealer doesn’t do it I lose my 3 Year / 36,000 mile warranty.

The first shop I went to didn’t install it and was really uncertain of the process. Luckily I live in a place that has more than one dealer close by and a second shop was familiar with the install having done 1 last year. I’m not sure why this seems like such a pain other than maybe these shops do 90% tires, brakes, and oil changes so when something out of the ordinary hits them their internal and optimized processes kind of grind to a halt.

This is also probably a numbers game. There have been around 10,000 6G RRs made and let’s say 20% of RR owners (probably a high estimate) want the tune. Since there are 2800 ford dealers in the US that means that your typical dealer MIGHT have seen 1 of these installs.

Hang in there and keep trying. The tune is worth the wait!

You can also have it installed by an ASE certified shop and enable the warranty, I did.

I did it myself. I'm not worried about needing to call upon the 3/36 warranty. If things start breaking, it'll be after around the 50k range at least. I haven't seen anyone on the forums having to use this warranty or reporting any issues caused by the tune.

Another avenue for anyone searching these threads down the line is to get your own ASE certification, I believe you need a year of hands on in one of many automotive fields and the test is relatively cheap. You can check on the ASE website. This of course is if you're looking to keep warranty intact.

Welcome to my world down in Boston! I even had a dealer's "service writer" (nothing more than someone who is just booking appointments) tell me that because I didn't buy from them they won't do the work, the other 5 dealers had no clue what I was talking about.

Ford Customer Service and Parts Accessories Customer service regurgitated, "Our dealers are only franchisees and we can't force them to do work." GREAT! I am trying to be loyal and support both Ford Motor and the local dealer and get NO ASSISTANCE!!! Still waiting for Ford Cust Assistance to find me a Boston area dealer to do the work! Meanwhile my coupon expired and Ford won't renew it!!!!

If anyone in Boston area can tell me a shop (SAE certified or Ford dealer) to do the work please LMK.

Until then Ford can...

Not sure where you are exactly, but you could try Ira Ford in Saco. It's been a few years, but back when they were Prime Ford they used to do performance stuff all the time. It's possible this changed with new management but a lot of the same people still work there.

dude this shit is easy as hell. The problem is the instructions are dogshit I am an engineer so it was obvious how it works. If you need some help, message me man.

The key is understanding how it works:
(1) you go to the site and enter your code to add to tune yo your ford performance account
(2) Then you download the tun file
(3) you import the tune file into the FP SW.
(4) It downloaded into the OBDII box.
(5) You use the box to install it into the car
(6) your car will shut off/on a couple times
(7) Turn on your truck engine and for the first minute it's going to run like shit as the tuning parameters adjust.
(8) drive truck normally for 20 min and slowly through time add more throttle

Done

OP paid for it to be installed by a Ford dealer, it's a silly suggestion to have him pay again at a separate mechanic to get it installed and retain the warranty.
