I just discovered a mystery switch on the backside of the wiper lever.
Backside being away from me but nearer the windshield.
As I don't know what it does or is called I can't find it in the manual.
It has three positions, I don't notice anything when I change it.
?? Anyone know anything about it ??

Think of it as a couple extra "in between" settings for your wiper speed.

It's the same switch on the front of the wiper stalk. for the interment wiper speed or auto wiper sensitivity. 2 ways to change it, thumb on front, or finger on backside.

And its in the owners manual,

Many thanks folks.
This explains why my rain sensor occationaly "failed to work".
I probably turned it off while cleaning.

The auto sensing auto delay wipers on my RR work fairly well but they are still often aggravating...
On my wife's Escape we call them the Evil Possessed wipers.
Worst.
Feature.
Ever.
