Probably 3.5 inches. I test fitted it and figured out exactly how I wanted it to sit then cut the minimal amount so that the oem exhaust wasn’t too visible inside the tip. Just used a hacksaw and didn’t need to remove any exhaust clips.

I’ve don’t a lot of mods to the truck and the exhaust tip and tinted side markers were probably the best bang for the buck visual changes I’ve made.

Really thought this was a joke when I first saw it. To each their own.

I get it, but I couldn't find any other exhaust tip for the ranger because of the unique size.
High temp silicone tubes, 3.5"ID off eBay. Just apply liquid detergent to exhaust and push on.
These have been on since Feb with no problem.

I wouldn't have thought to do that but now I know. Cheers.

Did you cut the OEM exhaust back to install the tip? I installed an Amazon exhaust tip on mine and cut the OEM exhaust back 3-4 inches. Woudn't expect a tip to make a difference in sound, but it definitely sounds different (better) and my theory is that its because I shortened the exhaust.
that seems like a better idea

so you are saying that adding just the tip is changing the exhaust tone/sound? I never thought that was possible?

That is really slick! Are there any differences in tubing quality, for example is this OK?: You could get two 6” covers from this….

Do you worry about the tips rusting due to trapped moisture? It does not look as if you drilled drain holes on the bottom. Thanks.

I would recommend the high temp silicone tubes. For the small difference in price and not having to cut it's not worth the risk.
I thought about drilling drainage holes but didn't. After 9 months there are no signs of corrosion.

That 12” one I linked to is rated to 500 degrees F. For the $10 I would save by not buying two 6” ones, I am perfectly OK with cutting it in half, and putting the “good” ends to the rear where they show.

I don't think that throwing a tip on changes the sound. Based on my experience, the sound changes when you cut back the OEM exhaust to add a new tip. It isn't the tip that changes the noise, its shortening the exhaust. YMMV

Ok that is where my confusion came in. Seeing posts of guys adding just the tip and stating it changed the sound, but they might have left out that they cut the OEM pipe back 4-5 inches.

I didn't even think to do that but that's a brilliant idea. I might do that since it sticks out a bit.
Couldn't you simply slide it on a little further? May slightly see the tip of the original exhaust. At least no cutting and would not stick out so far.

You can also paint the stock exhaust tip with high temp paint! Did it on mine and am satisfied with the result. A lot cheaper than $134.

I think I am leaning this way as well since changing the tip does nothing for sound and I don't want to cut parts off LOL.. what paint did you use? Spray can?
