I’m looking at ordering a new Ranger but the problem is I likely wouldn’t get it till at least March or April.
My 2005 Sport Trac is pretty well shot and I have been told it’s not safe to drive due to exhaust leak and floor and frame is rotted. I might be forced to buy a used Ranger but I would really rather have the new model. Any suggestions?

You would be considered very lucky if you could place an order and receive it by March. Doubt you would see it that soon but wouldn't hurt to try.

Dealer said by March or mid April. Don’t know how true that is.

If you got a build date in Feb you might see the truck in april . Some people that ordered months age are getting build dates in March .You May want to repair your vehicle or purchase a beater to make it tell your order comes in . The ranger will be worth the effort and wait .

If you wanted to order an XLT with few/no options then your dealer may be at least close to the truth.

I'm not sure how you being in Canada will impact your timeline, if at all.

I am in Ontario as well and ordered the beginning of December. I was told April/May. If you do order, and to avoid delays, avoid stand alone options like running boards, bed liners etc. as they are dependent on third party suppliers. Just get them aftermarket later. That's what I was told anyway. Good luck!

I was thinking the FX4 package as it looks like really good value. Thanks.

I'd talk to a few dealers and see if they have any stock orders coming in as well. One may be close to acceptable to you in option level. Couldn't hurt, as they are producing now and the order book is not screaming high for non-Raptors.
PS I love your syrup.

I ordered a xlt on June 3rd and still have no build date, so doubt that they will be in, in march or April

Oh man. That’s a long wait. My Sport Trac is pretty well shot. I need one fairly soon.

I think it has a lot to do with the dealer.
How many Rangers they sell
How many Rangers left on the lot
If they have allocations.

My dealer sold every one they could get
Have none on the lot
Had allocation

I ordered 11/24 and have a build week of 1/29

Buy a good used one. You may like it enough to wait until next year or longer to get a New Generation Ranger without the Dealer price add-ons or compromising on options in your order if you get a 2025 or later.

Thanks. I have been looking on AutoTrader. Used Rangers really hold their value.

That's one thing I would worry about if you planned to use it as a stopgap. They may not hold their value so well once the 6g is widely available.

The 5g is an underrated truck though, so you might just be happy enough with it to not worry about resale value.
