My 24 RR with 300 miles on it develops a mechanical whirling / light clicking noise when hot near idle. You can hear it change pitch with RPM. Gear doesn’t matter, but it sounds like it’s something in the input side of the transmission. I’ve had three other 10 speed automatic vehicles using this design. It’s not the pump gear whine. Is this normal or is something up? Its easy to hear inside of the truck when hot and no audio on.

Update. It’s coming from the AC compressor.

Could be low diff oil? It was an issue here in Aus for a few sold very early on in 2022. Here's a video of it from CarExpert which happened to his personal Ranger Raptor. Had low diff oil from factory - dealership ended up replacing diff as a result:

Not the diff. It does it when stopped. Sometimes it louder than other times. It reminds me of a torque converter cover rubbing.

I figured it out. It’s not the transmission. It’s the AC compressor. Doesn’t sound quite right.

I have the same sound on my 24 Lariat. I noticed it the first week I had the truck. I've had it back to the dealership. they had it four days and claim they can't replicate the sound. I picked back up on Friday afternoon and started to work. I stopped at a traffic light and the noise was still there. It has to be AC related. I can sit idling and hear it over the radio when I'm listening to talk radio. When I turn the AC off and leave the fan on the noise instantly goes away. When I turn AC back on noise instantly comes back. I've started a customer complaint with Ford. They are supposed to be in touch with the dealership to correct the problem. I let them know up front that if they can't rectify the problem then I don't want the truck. It's very irritating when sitting still.

Yeah. Sounds like what I’m hearing. It’s loud enough to hear it over the radio at modest volume levels.

What ever came of this? I have the same noise in my Ranger Raptor.

Looks like there are at least a couple of threads for the same issue. No one that has the issue appears to have had resolution. My dealer agreed to put in a new compressor. I should have it back in about a week (three days to get the part). I will update the forum when I get it.

Dealership put in a new AC compressor shipped from factory. Although it ‘might’ be a little softer, the whirring noise is still there.

While I was at the dealership there were two other 2025 RR that I was able to listen to. One had it louder than mine and one did not have it.

Mine is a late 2024. If it really is the air conditioning compressor, then they are shipping that way and the dealerships are unlikely to do anything unless they have a recall. They don’t have any other answer for it unfortunately.

New compressor going in Monday for my problem. Fingers crossed it at least lowers the volume of the noise. Best case it eliminates it. Sat in another raptor with them and we didnt hear it at all in the other one. Please everyone go to your dealerships and complain so Ford can get this issue figured out.

Please reply and let us know if it helps. My dealerships said that he could not find any other similar complaints to corporate, which means that individual dealerships are not logging in the complaint to corporate. Those of you that have this problem, it would be helpful if you ask your dealership to send the issue on to corporate so they have record.
I have had my AC compressor exchanged for a new one from factory and it did not help. My dealership asked for my truck back and has had it for almost two weeks now. I was told that they are waiting on a specialist to come check it out. I am grateful that LHM Superford in SLC is taking the time to look into this.

Are we talking about the small (to me) whine from the AC compressor? I'm guessing the volume of yours is louder because while its noticeable i wouldn't say its loud enough to be a concern/annoying, let alone dealership intervention. It also doesn't whine, even noticeably, while not in motion.

I don't say this to say "well mine doesn't" I'm just concerned about how loud that whine must have gotten for you guys to end up at the dealer for resolution.

Just curious if anyone has compared the AC compressor noise side by side, driving comparisons with another Ranger? How different are they?
I'm confused as well, as to why replacing the suspected faulty compressor would not change the noise level you all are hearing from it, as the only other thing involved in its system is belts and pulleys.

Wouldn't happen to be when it's over 100 deg outside in the heat would it? Mine doesn't seem to do it when its cooler. Thinking it's just working harder in the hot as hell summer we've had in quite a while.
