Good afternoon, I am ready to order the new Ranger lariat 4x4. My question is does the fx4 package ride rougher than the standard 4x4 package? I will not use it for off roading just highway driving. Thank you

From the videos i have watched on a lariat with FX4 (which is what i have on order) it is more favorable that the truck rides better than without the FX4 on the highway.. There were only a couple vids that was the opposite. Its all a matter of opinion anyway. I test drove gen5 rangers with and without the FX4, almost bought one , and i felt the ones with it rode smoother on the highway. Not to mention you get more drive modes with the FX4 package.

Not for nothing but if you’re just using it for highway driving why not get RWD only?

Depending on where he lives a RWD is worthless in winter.

Yes. It will ride rougher. If you’re not going off road with it, then don’t spend the extra money and just get a Lariat 4x4. That’s what I ordered. It’s a smoother ride

I'd check online reviews that have driven the FX4 because I'm not sure if anyone knows yet.

On the 5G forum, most complained that the truck was way too soft, floated around, and rode worse than the standard 4x4 shocks. They thought the package was worth it for the drive modes and locking differential, but universally said the shocks were trash.

The 5G Tremor model had different shocks and tuning and was well praised. Maybe Ford learned something and applied it towards the FX4?

Several of the You-Tube reviews were in FX4 trucks, so hopefully they'll give you a good idea of what to expect.
