Ridiculous this thing has organic brake pads from the factory. Never heard of such a thing until now. It's no wonder why braking in this thing is sub par and the stopping distance is poor. I ordered a set of Powerstop Z23 Carbon Ceramics for all 4 corners. Will have to wait until it warms up a bit so I can get them swapped out. Another cost cutting measure. Put organic pads on a small car but not on a truck. SMH.

Stock brakes are s**t, brakes are pretty much the only thing I am very unsatisfied with the RR.

While I do wish the pads on my XLT had more initial bite, the last thing I would be doing is putting ceramic pads on to improve that. The only thing I'd run ceramic pads on are a show car that I didn't want dust from to reduce washing time. When my Ranger gets a bit more miles on it or when I upgrade wheels/tires I'll look for some aggressive semi-metallic pads from one of the places I source track pads from.

Have you got a 24?

The brakes on my 25 XLT work just fine…
no it's a 25 but my dad's 21 Ram 1500 stops better than this truck. Even all the info online shows a Ram stopping in the low to mid 130s and the Ranger stopping in like 140ft 60-0. Colorado and Tacoma stop better as well.

Do you think it may be that we have Electric Brake Booster, rather than the traditional Vacuum Booster? Just wondering if that has anything to do with it.

The Bosch electric boosters have been around for quite while on many different brands, and are quite effective.
I’m trying to find the right one to use for a conversion on my 1969 El Camino.

I remember driving my truck home for the first time and it is the only time I've had the auto brake come on in traffic.

I wasn't really impressed by the brakes and I had read some of the same reviews about stopping distance

But I swear now, my brakes are much better with 6K miles on it.

I used to get in my Wives RAV4 and almost hit the windshield at the first stop and now that doesn't happen anymore.

I drove a couple of Honda Odyssey rental vans and when I got I the ranger out I had a really hard stop the first time braking.

Just my anecdotal results. And I don't know if the emergency stop distance has decreased but certainly the initial bit and force required has changed for the better for me.

I don't recall such a difference in braking with a new vehicle before.

I fucked up the other day not paying attention and almost rear ended someone going 40-45mph. The brakes, ABS system and collision avoidance system worked perfectly. I got no complaints, they saved my bacon.

Well, as the Ford service advisor told me in Georgetown, Texas, "The brakes are learning how you and your wife drive." 😐 He said the same about the transmission...😁
