I’m worried that factory turbos are not going to be available to anyone, maybe Ford has a special arrangement with Garrett but for S&Gs I tried to look up the replacement cost for a stock turbo on Garret’s website and this is what showed up. @Goosetuned are there other retailers offering the stock Garret turbos or are they only selling the upgraded ones?

The factory parts need to be available by law for warranty purposes. They must also maintain inventory for at least 10 years after any model goes out of production. They were back ordered and should be filling those orders now.

well that’s good to know! I wasn’t aware of that, but… an alternative could be if my warranty is up in like 2700mi, and I plan on getting it goosetuned, should I just go with …?

Update: Turbo was delivered yesterday and they are installing today. If all goes well I will pick it up in the morning. I have the complete parts list if you want it. If you want to DM me feel free.

Final Update:

The truck is finally fixed! They did replace the DS turbo. Noise is gone. It was excessive shaft play. Take note of how they were able to diagnose the issue. Thank god for the shop foreman promising me that he would find out what was causing the noise without any codes. He has been working on Fords since 1997. Old school mechanic, pre OBD2 bullshit codes. Reviving this thread because I got my truck back on Sunday. I did not have the same issue as @jordantii my noise was due to the driver’s side turbo “eating” something (see pic). They looked through all connected piping and could not find what broke loose or got sucked into the turbo. But they stated that it must have been from an external source, so Ford would not cover the replacement. The only possibilities I could come up with are:
1.) a rock or debris somehow got sucked into the BOV port of the S&B turbo intake tube when the screws backed out of the port mount (see pic)
2.) a dealership that looked at it but did not offer a fix said one of the plastic clips on the back of the stock airbox had broken off, I’m not sure if it’s possible for that to have ended up on the turbo side of the air filter, but it’s doubtful that it somehow jumped over the TEE junction that leads to the passenger side turbo. Again, we will never know what it was because it is no longer in the piping and the dealership speculates that it may have traveled through the vane and into the Downpipe/catalytic converter.
I am going to install some slightly used DSR downpipes this weekend and will eventually put in an aftermarket intercooler, so I will look for any signs of debris interacting with the stock components during installation.

if anyone is so inclined to remove their S@B intake crosspipe please let me know what, if any, hardware or mounting bracket etc. is on the inside of the BOV port that may have dislodged (see pic).

brightside is I have a brand new stock drivers side turbo, the noise is gone, and they installed the ford procal tune so the shift points have been corrected to what they always should have been…

I bet you ate one of those BOV screws. That sucks, but glad you got it fixed.
