Why is it so hard to understand we don't want someone other than Ford messing with the brains/warranty of a 60K investment?

lol, yeah we know, everyone knows. Ford only warranties your vehicle if the tune is done at a Ford dealer or ASE certified tech does it. That is why everyone is going to the dealer.

YES! Koons Sterling Ford! They were amazing and knew the tune inside and out! I opened the account on my laptop, then took my computer and they did the rest from my computer.

Thanks for the recommendation. Did you have to buy the tuner trough them for them to install it? Did you have everything set up for them to just push the install button? What did they charge you?

I just opened the account. They downloaded the tune to my computer and did the installation. I did buy the tune through them, but don't think it matters. I actually picked up the tune prior to the installation and don't remember if I even mentioned I bought it there to the service department. They charged me an hour labor. If they aren't far from you, I'd swing in and talk to them in person. They were very approachable and were more than happy to chat about the tune, Ranger Raptor, etc.

I am quoted 1 hour @ $200, with me doing all the pre-setup I can on the device and loading the tune etc.

That is what I did for the one for my '19 Lariat, but the dealership changed hands so I had my ASE do it, gave him $50 to push the last "button", made a certificate with VIN and details and had him sign.

I wish I had a dealer like that. Im dreading my first dealer oil change because of my experience with the dealer ProCal install. Completely awful, so bad that it makes me reconsider ever owning a Ford, this being my first, likely my last

It takes 30 mins. Do it yourself. The “warranty” debate is getting old. I installed on both my Braptor and my gen 3. Non issue. It’s been a couple years but it don’t recall anything about inputting a special number to prove you are a tech. Not that I even cared. It’s a mind tune anyhow and you aren’t going to have issues. Mountain out of a mole hill. Your truck, your decision…..but the dealer is the last person i would want wrenching on my vehicles for anything like this. They are usually idiots, or thieves, or both. Most know even less about the stuff they sell than the customer.
