Hello everyone, I had a quick question regarding transmission operating temperatures in my 2024 Ranger Raptor (no modifications).
I noticed that after 15-20 minutes of driving in Baja mode with manual shifting (no redlining RPMs), my transmission temperature was up to 219 degrees when I arrived at home.
Was just curious to see if this is something I should be worried about, and what the standard temps usually run around in both regular and more spirited driving. For reference, I’m also in Southern California with 65-70 degree weather temps as of lately. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

My observation has been that if the temp reaches to 212F, the thermostat opens, the temp will quickly drop down to 203F … and repeats.
From what I understand the transmission cooler line is controlled by thermostat which starts to open at 203F and fully opened at 216F.

Send it.

Until it gets to 230. Then you can say, "that was fun"

While at the Raptor Assault class, the instructor mentioned that the some of the elaborate temperature gauges, are not actually reading a value like you would assume, its doing calculations based on other variables to guess what the temperature is. take that for what its worth - 2nd hand from an engineer.

Ford's 10 spds run hot, my Super Duty runs in the area of 210 all the time when it's up to operating tempature, regardless of outside air temp.
