Let's make this simple so some among us can understand. Ready? Here goes. When you park an automatic transmission equipped vehicle you ALWAYS place the gear shift into the "PARK" position, any other operator behavior is, simply put, WRONG. Not need to refer to the operators manual. Does this resolve any questions?
incorrect. some cars w/ electronic shift have a shortcut. Car will automatically shift to P if turn car off while in D or R. No need for driver to shift from D to P and then push start/stop button and then apply parking brake. Can just hit off button and car will shift to P, put on E-brake, turn engine off. Kinda nice, one button power down sequence!

But the Raptor does not automatically apply the handbrake, I would have liked to find a modification with Forscan.

The transmission has a parking paw that is only activated when placed in park. Even the new Ford Electric vehicles still use a parking paw.

I just tried it on my 25 Lariat and this flashes on the display and the loud chime keeps sounding until you put it in park.

Good point. I was talking about my other car which (I think) does them all. My '24 Ranger Lariat moves the gear selector from D to P when I hit start/stop button and shuts engine off. I don't think Ford applies the E-brake.

yep probably makes sense. Didn't 2025 lariat go from the short e-shifter to the tall mechanical one? The '24 lariat moves the shift knob from D to P before turning off the engine. But '25 shifter probably can't do that, gotta touch more buttons and levers I guess.
