Rust on new 2025

was under my raptor today and noticed a significant amount of rust on this piece…not sure what it is. Is this normal for a brand new vehicle?

Yes, it's normal. The driveshaft on US models is uncoated so it will develop surface rust. Supposedly it won't affect the lifespan of the driveshaft, however, what is interesting is that the rest of the world Rangers gets a coated driveshaft so it doesn't rust.

looks like it, maybe a front driveshaft.

@absinthe52 , the driveshafts are unpainted so if you want to stop that, apply some type of corrosion killer/preventer and then paint it. i don't know why ford stopped painting them but it stopped a while ago.

Yep, very normal for the US versions.
‘Was widely debated / discussed last year around the forum here when the trucks first came out.
‘Not ideal in the since it’s not a pretty sight, but it won’t ever hurt anything function wise.

I think it was figured out that some of the Rangers built overseas used different materials on those drive shafts then what they use here in the US production plant.

You could always throw a protective coating on it or rust converter.

ICT Truck works?

‘I don’t think they coat the drive shafts, pretty sure that would potentially cause some problems especially in terms of throwing the drive shafts out if balance. Sort of like mud in a wheel throws a tire out of balance.

Yeah. Decided to let them do it all. Not concerned about rust on the drive shaft. it's Ford. My Borla exhaust comes in tomorrow to Truck Stuff. Ordered from SS Exhaust, no sales tax, free shipping to Truck Stuff, and they will put it on for $350 + tax. Now need to shop for a tonneau and e-boards.

I knew they started doing spray in liners a while back.

Don't think so but not sure. Not a lot of places undercoat. That's why I use Line-X Wichita, now called Truck Works ICT.

Really. That drive shaft says “crap if dropped”.

Yea, ok that’s is what I thought , ICT Truck works is who I am using as well.

You had mentioned truckstuff in your earlier post doing it all tomorrow.
