Just saw an ad for this on facebook. Now they are targeting me. Looks like a cheap alternative to actual undercoating. Anyone have experience with it?

Without knowing what product or service you’re talking about, we’re left to just guess. So that aside, lanolin-based sprays like fluid film, surface shield, a wool wax are very effective at preventing rust (and arresting rust, as the case may be). The downside is that they need to be reapplied annually but it’s cheap and easy to do.
Rubber based undercoatings very often allow rust to start underneath so by the time you see the undercoating starting to bubble you’ve got serious rot underneath.

Wasn’t asking anyone to guess. Was simply asking if anyone had experience with it.

I have put PB surface shield on my frame right after I got it, that’s a heavy sprayable layer of wax and it’s been on the frame since oct 2024 and I just put some fluid film on it as a topper coat for this last snow storm and I’ve seen absolutely no rust and everything is well protected just take and spray it off at the car wash and all the buildup from snow and ice falls right off and then it’s back to new

I applied fluid film on my new 2025 Lariat last August. This winter we have had a lot of snow & salt applied to the roads, so I will see how well it protected the truck this spring.
I like this product because it is safe to apply without a bio hazard suit. The spray is basically harmless. Youtube has several good videos of longterm performance of fluid film.
