During the last wash my current Sensor covers started flaking off the finish, Kinda looking poopy and crusty, so rather than repainting I just replaced them with 1/8' Stainless ones with new hardware from SDHQ. We'll see how they hold up to northeast conditions. Wish I could have just got these from the beginning.

Howdy. I’m not sure if the sensor covers are necessary. I went on a 500 mile off-road adventure through Wyoming with 50 other vehicles and the sensors held up fine. I got my truck up to almost 75 on the dirt through bumps and whoops. Also flung a bunch of rocks everywhere, mud flaps help a ton. It seems the covers would cause mud and debris to get caught and then eventually rub a hole in things.

They may not be necessary. but its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. New parts are fun.
