Wanted to share a few pictures of my Shadow black Ranger FX4 2.6L and the Rocklear coating I had done a month ago. To avoid answering a bunch of questions I'll put some details below. Skip over if you just want the TL;DR.

My truck was bought in 2025 near Labor Day with 8 miles. Being a 2024 model, it had quite a few swirl marks from the dealer's car washes (always use touch-free if possible). So Dragon Auto clay barred it, did the paint correction, applied the Rocklear, let it cure for three weeks, then went over it to polish and do final touch-ups. The coasting is warranted for 15 years. The curing process is the only negative so far.

Dragon Auto is the top dealer out here in the Bay Area for Rocklear coatings, and they did an great job. They used to do PPF, but now they exclusively apply Rocklear and ceramic coatings only.

For those that don't know what it is, it's like an extra clear coat that can be applied in layers, thus giving ample protection. You can pay for as many layers, and it can get thicker than PPF. If you do get chips and scratches, they easily buff out like any other clear coat.

Two coats were applied to the hood and roof, and the rest has one coat. The glass and plastics have ceramic coating. The threads on Reddit that bash Rocklear are ridiculous. This stuff makes the truck look shiny even when it's dirty.

I paid about $1900 after many discounts, but expect to pay around $2500 for a truck, depending on your shop. Also, do not choose a shop that does not show their work. Rocklear is not sprayed on but applied by hand, so you want a shop dedicated to their work, not just rushing them out the door.

TLDR: Truck is shiny.

Looks good - really good, nothing like a black vehicle when it is at it's peak. Had one black vehicle that was enough. I would have spent that money on performance but to each his own. What really amazed me was the cure time - wow. I found on my Lariat, now have a Raptor, that I could get a pretty good reflective shine with spray waxes.
